The Serpent Crest Shield is a Medium Shield in Elden Ring. It belongs to Shadow of the Erdtree and waits in the Realm of Shadow.

The Serpent Crest Shield is a finely made redshield engraved with a winged serpent, said to commemorate the start of the crusade led by Messmer, son of Marika, and it excels at guarding against fire. It is the reward for the Incursion painting: after taking the painting from the Artist's Shack in the Gravesite Plain, the spirit appears west of the Greatbridge North Site of Grace with Belurat, Tower Settlement in view. It has the highest fire negation of any medium shield, raised to 78.75 percent with a Fire or Flame Art infusion, and a high guard boost. It weighs 6, needs 12 Strength and carries No Skill as its default. It suits characters facing fire-heavy enemies such as Messmer's forces.

How to Get Serpent Crest Shield Guide

It is the reward for solving the "Incursion" Painting puzzle in the Gravesite Plain.

Find the Artist's Shack in the Gravesite Plain and examine the painting inside to receive the "Incursion" Painting.
Rest at the Greatbridge North Site of Grace.
Head west until the stone bridge to Belurat, Tower Settlement comes into view.
Reach the small hill facing the bridge, the spot shown in the painting.
Approach the painter's spirit to receive the shield.

It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to fire, at 63%, and worst to holy, at 38%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.
