The Notched Pickaxe is a unique pickaxe that can be found at the tallest point of The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. It's both an easter egg reference to Minecraft and bears a unique enchantment that is still useful for general gameplay.
Weapon Enchantment
The Notched Pickaxe raises the wielders Smithing Skill by 5 levels, it can be used while smithing to craft more powerful weapons. It also does 5 shock damage to enemies it hits.

How to Get the Notched Pickaxe Location
Where to find the Notched Pickaxe Location?
You can find the Notched Pickaxe location at the tallest point in Skyrim, Throat of the World. The pickaxe is embedded in the rock just below the peak of the mountain to mark the tallest peak which can be walked up.
During the main questline the player will be sent by the Greybeards to the "The Throat of the World." at this point you can obtain the Notched Pickaxe. It is however possible to get the weapon earlier by jumping up the mountain repeatedly until you reach the top or using a horse to scale it.
Gameplay Tips and Tricks
- The Notched Pickaxe is a reference to Markus Persson, a.k.a "Notch," who is the creator of Minecraft, and was added into the game after the Minecraft Skyrim Mash-up add-on was created.
- The pickaxe will not improve the users smithing skill beyond level 100.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The Notched Pickaxe is not a leveled weapon.
