The The Pale Blade can trigger the most powerful fear effect in Skyrim. The sword is imbued with an enchantment called Ice Terror which causes enemies to flee in fear and suffer frost damage. To obtain the unique sword the Dragonborn must defeat the Pale Lady in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Weapon Enchantment
The Pale Blade's Enchantment is leveled to the Dragonborns level when they find the weapon. The base weapon effect causes Fear on targets between level 5-16 and does between 5-25 points of Frost and Stamina damage.
With both ranks of Augmented Frost Perk and Dukaan’s Dragon Mask's unique enchantment in effect, the blade can cause level 28 enemies too flee in fear, although the increase in numbers will not be shown on the weapon. The effected level can also be further increased by using fortify destruction potions making it the most powerful feat effect in Skyrim.

How to Get The Pale Blade Guide
Where to find The Pale Blade Location?
To get the Pale Blade the Dragonborn must go to Frostmere Crypt and start the quest The Pale Lady.
- Travel to Frostmere Crypt, located directly East from Morthal
- Find the stolen sword.
- Follow Kyr and Ra'jirr into the tunnels.
- Banish the Pale Lady.
- Either return the Pale Blade to its pedestal or take it and fight the Pale Lady.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The The Pale Blade Sword is a leveled weapon, both its base damage and enchantments power scale to the Dragonborn level when they first find the weapon. The best version of The Pale Blade can be found at level 27+.
