The Harkon's Sword is the best sword for vampires in Skyrim and there are two possible methods of getting the sword early. Harken's Sword has the appearance of a katana simular to the Blades Sword, it has a guard that resembles two bats either of the blade and no pommel.
Weapon Enchantment
Harkon's Sword's enchantment only works if the wielder is a vampire. It causes the screen to go slightly dark with each successful attack, symbolising that the sword is draining its victims energy. The weapon absorbs 15 points of Magicka, Stamina and Health from the target.
You can attack 23 times with the blade until it needs to be recharged.

How to Get Harkon's Sword Location Guide
Where to find Harkon's Sword Location?
You can find Harkons Sword location in Castle Volkihar which can be accessed when starting the Dawnguard Questline. The sword itself is wielded by the Vampire Lord Harkon who can be found wondering around the castle or in his personal chambers.
- The first method for getting Harkon's Sword is by pickpocketing it with the with the Misdirection perk. Its recommended to save the game before attempting this, due to the difficulty level required to steal such a high value item.
- The second method to get Harkon's Sword is to finish the Dawnguard Questline. It does not matter weather you join the Dawnguard Faction or side with the vampires, at the end of the questline you must defeat Lord Harkon in battle. After you have defeated him you can loot his body for his unique sword.
Gameplay Tips
- Its possible to get unlimited weapon charges on Harkon's Sword by equipping four items with a 25% Fortify Destruction effect for a total of 100% reduction. This also makes Harkons sword one of the best weapon choices for Vampire Spell Sword builds, since both the weapon enchantment and destruction spells would not drain any Magicka.
- At first glance Harkons Sword may appear to be quite a weak weapon, since the blades has a base damage of 8. But the additional 15 points of absorb health damage ignores the enemies armor and sustains your character in combat. In total the weapon does 23 base damage per hit.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The Harkon's Sword is not a leveled weapon.
