The Warhawk's Talon is a Straight Sword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Stormveil Castle, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at C, so Dex is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 10 and Dex 16 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Talon-swords are affixed to the legs of Stormveil's warhawks, but this one has been repurposed for human use. The blade is thin and lightweight so as not to obstruct the hawk's mobility.

Dropped by Warhawks in Stormveil Castle with a 2% drop rate. 4 of these birds can be found on the walls outside of the Rampart Tower Site of Grace.
