The Cane Sword is a Straight Sword in Elden Ring. It only turns up late in a run, in Leyndell, Ashen Capital.

The Cane Sword was the beloved sword of an aged knight whose last quest was long behind him, repurposed into a walking stick with a worn tip. It lies on a corpse near the stairs south of the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace in Leyndell, Royal Capital, and can still be taken from the same spot in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. It shares the Broadsword's sweeping one-handed heavy attack and unique rolling attack, so it relies on slashes rather than pokes. It is a light sword of 2.5 weight with modest base damage, one of the weakest of its class, and it does slightly better on Dexterity-leaning affinities such as Keen. It suits a Dexterity character who values its low weight and its look.

Skill

Square Off costs 6 / 8 FP. The wielder holds the sword level in a ready stance, which costs nothing to hold but slows stamina recovery. A normal attack steps in with an upward slash that breaks through an enemy's guard, while a strong attack performs a running thrust. Holding the stance for a moment first lets Rellana's Cameo boost the follow-ups, and both can be parried. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.
