The Iron Greatsword is a Greatsword in Elden Ring. It carries the highest physical attack of any greatsword in the game.

When to Use It

Late game. It is found around Mountaintops of the Giants, far enough in that it is an end-of-run weapon rather than something to build towards.

Why Players Pick It

Hardest physical hit in the class at +0 and the best heavy-infusion result on 's tables: A Strength, 316 physical, 162 stance damage at max Heavy, the highest stance number of any infusable Greatsword. Farmable from Misbegotten Warriors, so no boss gate.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at C and Dex at E, so Str is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 18 and Dex 10 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Greatsword with a blade of unusually thick steel. A coarse weapon to which polishing is a foreign concept. Weighty even among others of its class, the impact of each strike is sure to be felt.
