The Greatsword of Solitude is a Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Shadow of the Erdtree. It is found around Land of Shadow in the expansion, which opens only once Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood are beaten.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Solitary Moon Slash costs 12 / 10 FP. Sharply slash downward using the greatsword, shooting forward an arc of light. Strong attack allows for an advancing follow-up. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at B and Dex at E, so Str is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 27 and Dex 13 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

Steel greatsword wielded by the Knights of the Solitary Gaol. Through a secret rite, they relinquished their hearts for heightened battle prowess. Next, they engraved their blades with two crests: one depicting the light of birth, and the other, solitude.
