The Iron Atgeir is a polearm in Valheim, dealing 65 pierce. At 65 total damage it is 3rd of the 4 polearms, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts Troll more than most things, which is what to carry it for.

How to Craft

Crafted at Forge, station level 2.
Costs 10x Wood, 30x Iron, 2x Leather scraps at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Swamp biome.

When to Use It

Early game. Iron comes out of Sunken Crypts in the Swamp, so this arrives once The Elder is down.

Upgraded 3 times after crafting, each level wanting the station built one step further up than the last. Every figure quoted elsewhere on this wiki is quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy is somewhere on:

Properties

65 pierce and 28 block armour. The two-handed guard is all you have, since there is no shield hand, and this is the first atgeir with enough of it to block a Draugr reliably.

The secondary is the weapon. Normal damage, but 6x stagger in a circle around you and no multi-target damage penalty, which is enough to stagger most creatures in the game outright. Primary for one target, secondary for a crowd.

Notes

The secondary's 360 degree arc takes no multi-target damage penalty, which almost every other area attack in the game does.
You do not move on the first strike of the primary combo and step 0.5 m forward on the 2 after it, so the combo closes distance the reach had bought you.
Most of the class is called an atgeir in game, a thin curved blade on a long pole, which is why the pages and the category do not use the same word.
