When a Plains Fuling Village wakes up all at once, the Black Metal Atgeir sweeps the whole ring back at spear's length before anything reaches you. It deals 105 pierce damage. At 105 total damage it ranks 2nd among polearms, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts the Troll more than most things, and that is the reason to carry it.
How to Craft
Crafted at a level 4 Forge from:
- 10x Finewood: chopped from Birch and Oak trees with a Bronze Axe or better.
- 30x Black Metal: smelted from Black Metal Scrap in a Blast Furnace.
- 5x Linen Thread: spun from Flax at a Spinning Wheel.

When to Use It
This is mid game gear. Black Metal drops from Fulings in the Plains, well past Moder.
Upgrades
The atgeir can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every figure quoted elsewhere on this page is quality 1, so here is the full upgrade ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:

Properties
105 pierce damage and the best crowd control in the game. The secondary attack staggers most creatures, and against a Fuling village that is worth more than any damage number.
The secondary attack is the real weapon. It deals normal damage but 6x stagger in a circle around you, with no multi-target damage penalty, which is enough to stagger most creatures in the game outright. Use the primary for one target and the secondary for a crowd.
Notes
- The secondary looks like a slash but deals pierce, like the rest of the class. Against something that resists pierce, the spin is still worth using for the stagger alone.
