The Queen waits in the dark at the bottom of an Infested Citadel in the Mistlands, behind a door that only a Sealbreaker will open. She is the hive mother the whole biome answers to: twelve and a half thousand health of armoured bulk that tunnels through her own floor and calls fresh Seekers out of the walls faster than you can clear them. She is also the first boss in the game with no weakness at all, so there is no trick to look up and no shortcut to take.
Behaviour
She wanders her chamber until something disturbs her, then stays on you for as long as she can reach you. Two attacks are always available. Her slap sweeps 130 damage through a ten metre arc every four seconds, and a stabbing strike into the ground hits everything within four and a half metres for 150 pierce. The rest unlock as her health falls. Below eighty per cent she spits a spray of twenty projectiles that leave you slimed and poisoned, and they can hatch Seeker Broods where they land. Below seventy per cent she adds a lunging bite for 140 pierce and 100 poison. Below sixty she rushes forward, crawling and slashing through an eight metre arc for 100 slash. The chop and pickaxe damage carried by the rush and the bite will level the scaffolding and the ground beneath it. Roughly once a minute she roars and calls Seekers and broods from holes across the arena. From ninety per cent health downwards she can also burrow into the floor and surface again anywhere within two hundred metres, which is how she escapes the corner you were sure you had her in. She never flees and has no mercy phase: the minions and the health pool are the fight.
Where to Find It
She is not a wild spawn. She sits on the lower floor of an Infested Citadel, the large fortified ruin in the Mistlands, behind a sealed door. To get in, collect nine Sealbreaker Fragments from the Infested Mines scattered through the biome, assemble the Sealbreaker at a Galdr Table, and use it on the seal. Unlike the other bosses, she takes no offering and nothing is used up, so the key stays with you. After she is dead, laying three Seeker Soldier trophies on the hive seat at the top of the citadel calls her back for another round. She never comes with stars, and the arena itself is fixed: a wide pillared floor with holes in it that her minions use.
Strengths and Weaknesses
She has no weakness to exploit, so bring the best of everything and plan for a long fight. Arrows are halved against her, and chop, pickaxe and spirit damage do nothing at all, so put down the bow and the axe. Black Metal and Carapace weapons, a sledge and eitr staves all land at full value, and one of those should be your answer. The reliable approach is to pull her back towards the entrance tunnel. Her reach cannot follow you there, the summoned Seekers have to come to you one at a time, and you get somewhere to eat, heal and recover stamina between pushes. Kill the broods immediately: they are fragile, but their poison stacks fast and they will chew through your healing. Roll through the rush rather than blocking it, step out of the ground stab's circle, and stay off the ground she has spat on. Poison Resistance Mead, your three strongest foods and a Feather Cape for the drop out of the tunnel make the difference. This is the last fight before the Ashlands, and it expects full Carapace or Black Metal gear. With anything less, she will simply outlast you.
Drops
She drops five Majestic Carapace, of which the Artisan Press needs only one, plus a trophy that doubles your eitr regeneration.

Forsaken Power
Hang The Queen trophy on its stone at the Sacrificial Stones and the power is yours to call on:
- +100% eitr regeneration
- Sneaking costs no stamina
- 50% poison resistance
It is the mage power and the thief power in one. Doubling eitr regeneration is the difference between casting and waiting.
It lasts five minutes, and every Forsaken power shares one twenty-minute cooldown, so only one is ever active. Anyone within ten metres of you gets it too.
Notes
- The entrance to the arena is completely safe from The Queen's attacks, so you can duck inside and heal. The Seekers and Broods she has spawned will follow you in, but no more spawn until you leave and draw her aggro again. Sometimes her back end sticks through the wall into the entrance, which gives you free hits. When you leave the entrance after a while, she always does a roar animation, which leaves time for a quick hit or two.
- The Queen's health does not reset when you leave the citadel, whether on purpose or by dying, or when you exit the game. Instead it slowly regenerates over time, just like other bosses and creatures.
- The Slimed status effect comes only from The Queen's spit attack.
- Luring The Queen to the entrance and hitting her with the AOE damage of the Demolisher still works in battle, but if she cannot reach you, she loses aggro and walks away. Bow or Arbalest shots, or a spear thrown into the wall, lure her back. When her health bar disappears, she cannot aggro on you for about 20 seconds, so you can even attack her with melee weapons.
