Hypercritical is Tiny Mike's modified rifle, an Iconic precision rifle built on the Rostović Kolac. Its bullets explode on impact and knock enemies off their feet. The last round in every magazine is a guaranteed crit, and the rifle also has a large crit damage bonus. This slow, heavy marksman's rifle becomes a strong crit weapon. It keeps targets on the floor while V aims the finishing shot. It is a reward for saving its owner in a Watson gig. Hypercritical comes from the gig Concrete Cage Trap for Regina Jones, in a residential block in Kabuki, Watson.
Combat
The Kolac is a large-calibre, semi-automatic bullpup precision rifle. Hypercritical keeps that slow, careful pace and adds explosive rounds. Each hit has a chance to knock the target down. A knocked-down enemy stops shooting for a moment and is easy to hit again.
The final round is what gives the rifle its name. The last bullet in the magazine always crits, and the rifle's own crit damage bonus adds to it. The magazine is small, so that guaranteed crit comes around often. The best approach is to use the first shots to knock down or wound enemies. V can then save the last round for the head of the most dangerous target. The reload is slow, so V should step into cover after the big shot before reloading.

Upgrades
Tiny Mike's rifle gets stronger tier by tier through the crafting menu's Upgrades tab. Crafting components pay for each tier. The rifle's explosive kills leave plenty of gear to disassemble for more components. Hypercritical needs to be in V's inventory for the tab to list it.
The table shows what each tier step of Hypercritical costs.

|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 to Tier 1+ | 75 Tier 1 components | - |

Character Builds
Precision rifles use the Cool tree. Focus adds headshot damage and unlocks Focus mode when aiming at full Stamina. Deadeye adds more headshot damage. While Deadeye is active, Nerves Of Tungsten-Steel guarantees crits on headshots and weak spots with precision rifles. Every headshot then crits, not only the last round. Long Shot keeps full damage at any distance while Deadeye is active. Rinse And Reload and High Noon both speed up reloads after certain kills. They help with the rifle's slow reload. California Reaper restores Stamina after a headshot kill.
For cyberware, crit chance and crit damage matter most. Visual Cortex Support raises crit chance the further V is from the enemy. Kiroshi Cockatrice Optics add crit chance directly. The Militech Apogee Sandevistan adds headshot damage and crit stats while time slows, which leaves time to place each shot. Hypercritical is a Power weapon, so the Ballistic Coprocessor improves its ricochets as well.

Lore
Tiny Mike is a street kid turned merc who works for Regina Jones. Regina sent him to steal files from Militech, and he got the data out. Militech tracked the hack, though, and cornered him in Regina's safehouse in north Kabuki. Regina sends V to break through the Militech lockdown and bring him out alive.
V finds Tiny Mike hiding in the bathroom of the apartment. After V hands him his inhaler, the two escape to Regina's transport. Hypercritical sits on the sink next to him, and taking it is an optional objective of the gig. The item text sums it up: sturdy design and Tiny Mike's mods make an explosive combination. After the gig, Tiny Mike can be found in the Afterlife.
Notes
- Taking the rifle is optional during the gig, so grab it before leaving the bathroom.
- Hypercritical is the Iconic variant of the Rostović Kolac.
