The Deep-Field Visual Interface raises V's Crit Chance the farther V stands from the target. It is the Iconic variant of Visual Cortex Support, and it keeps scaling out to very long range. At its peak, almost every long shot is a critical hit. Its Cool attunement adds Crit Damage as well, so a Cool sniper gains twice. It is the implant for precision rifles, sniper rifles and anyone who fights from far away. The Deep-Field Visual Interface is a mid to late game Phantom Liberty implant, sold by the ripperdocs in Dogtown from level 20 and found in Dogtown airdrops.
Effect
The Deep-Field Visual Interface is a passive Nervous System implant. Its Crit Chance bonus grows with distance from the enemy. Close up, the bonus is small. At long range, it reaches its maximum. The common Visual Cortex Support reaches its own peak at a much shorter distance and gives far less. The Iconic model rewards V for staying well back.
The higher tiers raise both the maximum bonus and the distance at which it peaks. At Tier 5++ the bonus can reach a guaranteed critical hit at the far end of its range.
The implant is attuned to Cool from Tier 3 onward. Each Cool point adds a little Crit Damage. A character with full Cool gains a solid boost to every critical hit, and this implant makes those hits common. Its extra stat bonuses fit a hidden shooter. The first bonus raises Bonus Stealth Damage. Weapon Handling arrives at Tier 2 and higher. Explosion Damage needs the Driver Update perk.
How to Get Deep-Field Visual Interface Guide

Upgrades
The Deep-Field Visual Interface is sold from Tier 3 and climbs to Tier 5++. Each step raises the maximum Crit Chance, and every other step pushes the peak distance farther out. The capacity cost stays the same at every tier. A ripperdoc can upgrade it with crafting components, which is the only way to reach Tier 5++. Cyberware Capacity Shards and the Edgerunner perk help make room for its high cost.
Character Builds
The Deep-Field Visual Interface belongs in a Cool build with precision rifles or sniper rifles. Deadeye adds headshot and weakspot damage. Long Shot makes shots deal full damage at any distance while Deadeye is active. Nerves Of Tungsten-Steel guarantees critical hits on headshots during Deadeye and adds damage as the distance grows. Focus adds headshot damage and unlocks a Focus mode when V aims at full Stamina. Deep Breath slows time while Focus is active. From the Reflexes tree, Tunnel Vision raises effective range and accuracy.
For other cyberware, the Kiroshi Cockatrice Optics add more Crit Chance and a strong zoom for spotting targets at range. The Bonus Stealth Damage stat helps the opening shot from hiding.
Select a Build
The first headshot comes from cover on high ground before the enemies know anyone is there. The Sandevistan then slows time while the rest of the group drops one by one. If the sniper is found, a slide turns on Optical Camo through Vanishing Act and the hunt moves to a new spot.

Lore
The Deep-Field Visual Interface shares its in-game description with Visual Cortex Support. The text calls it a brain mod that improves perception and targeting. The Iconic model pushes the same idea much further, out to the distances where snipers work. It is one of the Iconic implants that arrived with Phantom Liberty and are sold only inside Dogtown.
Notes
- Visual Cortex Support is the base implant. Every ripperdoc sells it, and it costs much less capacity.
