The M-179e Achilles is a Militech Tech precision rifle that splits every round into a spread of five projectiles. A charged shot pulls that spread together into one hard hit that can go through cover. The Achilles works best in a Cool or Technical Ability build. It handles both quick uncharged shots and slow, aimed kills through walls. Its in-game line says the enemies of its owner never stood a chance. It is the base rifle for the Iconic Widow Maker and the Phantom Liberty rifle Achilles x-MOD2. Weapon shops in Night City stock the Achilles, and enemies drop it. It fits a loadout through most of the story.
Combat
Uncharged, each round from the Achilles breaks into a five-point pattern. Holding the trigger charges the rifle. A charged shot gathers the projectiles at the center for a single heavy hit. Like other Tech weapons, it can pass through obstacles to hit the target behind them.
The magazine holds nine rounds. Enemies hiding behind crates, doors or thin walls are open to a charged round.

Character Builds
The Achilles uses perks from two attribute trees, Cool and Technical Ability. Cool holds the precision rifle perks. Focus and Deadeye reward aimed headshots. Long Shot keeps full damage at range during Deadeye. Nerves Of Tungsten-Steel makes every Deadeye headshot a guaranteed crit. It also adds bonus damage based on distance. Technical Ability holds the Tech perks. Bolt speeds up charging. It also makes a shot count as fully charged if the trigger is released just before full charge. Shock Value makes those Bolt shots ignore armor. Chain Lightning turns them into electrical arcs that jump to nearby enemies.
For cyberware, the Kiroshi Stalker Optics highlight enemies behind cover while V aims a Tech weapon. They show where to aim a shot through the wall. The Feedback Circuit heals V on every fully charged Tech hit. Its mod slots take precision rifle and Tech weapon mods. C-Thru lowers the charge needed to pierce cover. It also reduces the damage lost when shooting through cover. Supercharger speeds up charging. Headtoll grants growing bonuses for headshot kills in a row.
Select a Build
Ping reveals enemies behind walls, and Tech weapon shots pierce the cover between them. A charged shot released at the click of Bolt deals the most damage. With a Militech Sandevistan, the charge starts first and time slows at half charge so the Bolt shot lands as a headshot.
