The Chrome Compressor trades the operating system slot for a large jump in Cyberware Capacity. It is an Iconic operating system, and its only job is to make room for more chrome elsewhere in the body. It costs no capacity of its own. It suits planned builds that want many strong passive implants instead of an active power such as a Sandevistan, a Berserk or a cyberdeck. Gunfighters and armored tanks who never press an operating system button get the most from it. The Chrome Compressor is an early to late game Phantom Liberty implant, sold by the ripperdocs in Dogtown from level 10 and found in Dogtown airdrops.
Effect
The Chrome Compressor is a passive operating system. Once installed, it raises V's Cyberware Capacity at once, and the bonus grows at every tier. At the highest tiers the extra room is enough to fit one more heavy Iconic implant.
Cyberware Capacity limits how much chrome V can install. Every implant has a capacity cost, and the strongest Iconic implants cost the most. Extra capacity lets V fill more slots with better pieces. It also lets V keep higher tier implants without leaving slots empty.
The trade is clear. The operating system slot normally holds the power that defines a build. Choosing the Chrome Compressor means choosing raw capacity over an active power. In return, every other slot can hold its best option.
How to Get Chrome Compressor Guide
- Install Phantom Liberty and reach Dogtown.
- Visit a ripperdoc in Dogtown from level 10 to buy it at Tier 2.
- Return at levels 20, 30 and 40 for higher tiers.
- Loot it from an airdrop cache in Dogtown, marked by red smoke.

Upgrades
The Chrome Compressor starts at Tier 2 and climbs to Tier 5++. Each step adds more Cyberware Capacity. Its own capacity cost is zero at every tier. Ripperdoc stock moves up a tier at levels 20, 30 and 40. A ripperdoc can also upgrade the installed implant with crafting components, which is the only way to reach Tier 5++.
The table shows what each tier step of Chrome Compressor costs at a ripperdoc.
| Upgrade | Components | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 2 to Tier 2+ | 75 Tier 2 components | - |
| Tier 2+ to Tier 3 | 37 Tier 3 components | - |
| Tier 3 to Tier 3+ | 75 Tier 3 components | - |
| Tier 3+ to Tier 4 | 37 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4 to Tier 4+ | 75 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4+ to Tier 5 | 37 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5 to Tier 5+ | 75 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5+ to Tier 5++ | 200 Tier 5 components | Phantom Liberty |
Character Builds
The Chrome Compressor suits builds that lean on passive implants. A Body tank can stack Chitin, Rara Avis and other heavy armor pieces. A Cool gunfighter can afford the Kiroshi Cockatrice Optics and the Deep-Field Visual Interface together. A Reflexes build can run the Adreno-Trigger and the Isometric Stabilizer at once.
Several Technical Ability perks work well with it. Cyborg cuts all cyberware cooldowns when every available slot is filled, and the extra capacity makes that easier. Renaissance Punk adds capacity for every attribute at 9 or higher. All Things Cyber lowers the capacity cost of Integumentary System and Skeleton implants. Edgerunner lets V go over the capacity limit at a cost in max Health. A higher base capacity means fewer points over the limit for the same set of implants.
Select a Build
The first headshot comes from cover on high ground before the enemies know anyone is there. The Sandevistan then slows time while the rest of the group drops one by one. If the sniper is found, a slide turns on Optical Camo through Vanishing Act and the hunt moves to a new spot.
Attributes: Body 15, Reflexes 17, Technical Ability 20, Intelligence 9, Cool 20.

Lore
The Chrome Compressor arrived with Phantom Liberty as one of the Iconic implants sold only inside Dogtown. It stands apart from the Sandevistans, Berserks and cyberdecks that fill the slot in most builds. It simply squeezes more room out of V's body for other implants.
Notes
- The Chrome Compressor fills the operating system slot, so it replaces a Sandevistan, a Berserk or a cyberdeck.
