Visual Cortex Support raises V's crit chance the farther V stands from the target. Snipers and marksmen get the biggest bonus, because they fight at long range. Every critical hit deals extra damage, so the implant raises damage over a whole fight. It suits a Cool character who picks enemies off from far away. Each point of Cool also adds headshot damage. Visual Cortex Support is an early game implant that every ripperdoc in Night City and Dogtown sells.
Effect
Visual Cortex Support is a passive implant. Its crit chance bonus grows with the distance to the enemy. The bonus reaches its maximum at 30 meters. At Tier 1 the maximum is 16%. At Tier 5 it reaches 30%.
Close up, the bonus is small. At sniper range, it adds a large chance to crit on every shot. That makes long-range weapons such as sniper rifles and precision rifles the best match.
Visual Cortex Support is attuned to Cool. Each point of Cool adds 0.2% headshot and weak spot damage. At 20 Cool, that is 4% more damage on every headshot.
Its stat bonuses add Bonus Stealth Damage and, from Tier 2, Weapon Handling.
How to Get Visual Cortex Support Guide

Upgrades
The tier a ripperdoc stocks rises every 10 levels, up to Tier 5. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier raises the maximum crit chance bonus. The Driver Update perk adds one more stat bonus. The Chipware Connoisseur perk offers a choice of bonuses when V upgrades the implant. V gains Cyberware Capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Visual Cortex Support costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
Visual Cortex Support belongs in a Cool build that fights at range. Deadeye adds headshot and weak spot damage. Long Shot keeps full damage at any distance while Deadeye is active. Nerves Of Tungsten-Steel makes headshots and weak spot hits guaranteed critical hits while Deadeye is active, with more damage at longer range. Focus adds headshot damage when V aims at full Stamina.
Reflexes adds more crit perks. Sharpshooter grants stacks with every successful shot. Practice Makes Perfect then adds crit chance and crit damage for each stack.
RangeGuard adds armor while no enemy is within 6 meters. It rewards the same distance that Visual Cortex Support does.
