Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics are optics built for damage. They add a large, flat bonus to Crit Chance with every attack. A build that stacks Crit Chance and Crit Damage gets the most out of them. Other Kiroshi models highlight enemies, traps or cameras on the screen. The Cockatrice adds raw damage instead. Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics are a late game Phantom Liberty implant, sold by the ripperdocs in Dogtown and found in Dogtown airdrops.
Effect
The Cockatrice is a passive implant. While it is installed, every attack has a higher chance to land a critical hit. At Tier 4 the bonus is a quarter. At Tier 5++ it rises to over a third. More critical hits mean more damage on every magazine and every combo.
The optics also give a strong optical zoom while scanning or aiming. That zoom helps V scan distant targets before a fight.
Its extra stat bonus raises the headshot damage multiplier. A careful shooter therefore gains twice from these optics. Critical hits land more often, and headshots hit harder.
How to Get Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics Guide
- Install Phantom Liberty and reach Dogtown.
- Visit a ripperdoc in Dogtown to buy the optics at Tier 4.
- Return at level 40 for Tier 5.
- Loot them from an airdrop cache in Dogtown.
- Upgrade them at a ripperdoc with crafting components.

Upgrades
Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics come in Tiers 4 and 5, with plus steps in between. Each step raises the Crit Chance bonus. The capacity cost stays the same at every tier. That cost is far higher than the cost of Basic Kiroshi Optics. Cyberware Capacity Shards and the Edgerunner perk help make room for it. A ripperdoc can upgrade the optics with crafting components up to Tier 5++.
The table shows what each tier step of Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics costs at a ripperdoc.
| Upgrade | Components | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 4 to Tier 4+ | 30 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4+ to Tier 5 | 22 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5 to Tier 5+ | 30 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5+ to Tier 5++ | 75 Tier 5 components | Phantom Liberty |
Character Builds
Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics suit any build that relies on critical hits. In the Reflexes tree, Sharpshooter grants stacks with each successful shot. Practice Makes Perfect then adds Crit Chance and Crit Damage for each stack. In the Body tree, Die! Die! Die! and Spontaneous Obliteration add Crit Chance at low Stamina. In the Cool tree, Sleight Of Hand adds Crit Damage whenever Juggler activates.
For cyberware, the Militech "Falcon" Sandevistan and the Militech "Apogee" Sandevistan raise Crit Chance and Crit Damage while time is slowed. The Dynalar Sandevistan also raises Crit Chance and Crit Damage while it is active.

Lore
The Cockatrice is the Iconic variant of Basic Kiroshi Optics. Kiroshi is a maker of optical cyberware. The database entry for its optics describes them as a widely popular suite of electro-neural enhancements. The same entry says they are built for scanning the environment. The Cockatrice keeps that scanning role and adds a combat edge. It is one of the Iconic implants that arrived with Phantom Liberty and are sold only inside Dogtown.
Notes
- Basic Kiroshi Optics are the base implant. They cost almost no capacity and slow down camera detection instead.
