The Synaptic Accelerator slows time when an enemy is about to spot V. The slowdown gives V a moment to hide, knock the enemy out or take the first shot. It turns a near miss in a stealth mission into a second chance. The implant suits a Cool character who sneaks through hideouts and prefers to stay unseen. Each point of Cool also adds headshot damage. The Synaptic Accelerator is an early game implant that every ripperdoc in Night City and Dogtown sells from level 10.
Effect
The Synaptic Accelerator watches enemy detection. When an enemy's detection of V reaches 50%, time slows down on its own. The slowdown lasts a few seconds. The implant then goes on a 60 second cooldown.
At Tier 2, time slows by 20% for 2 seconds. At Tier 5, it slows by 50% and lasts longer. The cooldown stays the same at every tier.
The slowdown starts while the detection meter is still filling. V can use the time to step out of sight. V can also close in for a takedown or line up a silenced headshot before the alarm goes up.
The Synaptic Accelerator is attuned to Cool. Each point of Cool adds 0.2% headshot and weak spot damage. At 20 Cool, that is 4% more damage on every headshot.
Its stat bonuses lower enemy vision and, from Tier 2, add Bonus Stealth Damage.

Upgrades
Ripperdocs sell the Synaptic Accelerator at Tier 2 from level 10, Tier 3 from level 20, Tier 4 from level 30 and Tier 5 from level 40. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier makes the slowdown stronger and longer. The Driver Update perk adds one more stat bonus. The Chipware Connoisseur perk offers a choice of bonuses when V upgrades the implant. V gains Cyberware Capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Synaptic Accelerator costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
The Synaptic Accelerator belongs in a Cool stealth build. Killer Instinct adds damage with knives, axes and silenced guns outside of combat. Gag Order delays detection by other enemies when V hits an enemy right after being detected. Deep Breath slows time further while Focus is active. Quick Getaway adds movement speed after a kill while undetected.
Optical Camo pairs well with it. During the slowdown, V can switch on the camo and vanish before the meter fills. Lynx Paws make V's steps quieter, which lowers the chance of detection in the first place. With Phantom Liberty, the Sensory Protocol Relic perk slows time when V is detected while crouched.
