Iconic Cyberware
Iconic cyberware is the rare chrome of Night City. Each Iconic implant has an effect that no common implant matches, or a much stronger form of a common effect. Most of them belong to Phantom Liberty and come from Dogtown. They cost far more Cyberware Capacity than common implants, so a build can only carry a few. Picking the right ones is the final step of a late game build.
Effects
Stronger variants make up most of the list. Many Iconic implants are the Iconic variant of a common implant. They keep the same idea and push it much further. The table pairs each one with its common relative.
| Iconic | Slot | Common Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Axolotl | Frontal Cortex | Newton Module |
| COX-2 Cybersomatic Optimizer | Frontal Cortex | Bioconductor |
| RAM Reallocator | Frontal Cortex | Camillo RAM Manager |
| Adreno-Trigger | Nervous System | Adrenaline Converter |
| Deep-Field Visual Interface | Nervous System | Visual Cortex Support |
| Revulsor | Nervous System | Reflex Tuner |
| Electromag Recycler | Circulatory System | Feedback Circuit |
| Isometric Stabilizer | Circulatory System | Clutch Padding |
| Chitin | Integumentary System | Subdermal Armor |
| Peripheral Inverse | Integumentary System | ProxiShield |
| Rara Avis | Skeleton | Para Bellum |
The gap is large. The COX-2 reaches a sure quickhack crit, while the Bioconductor stays below 40%. The Peripheral Inverse cuts close-range damage by up to 45%, while the ProxiShield stops at 20%. The Adreno-Trigger keeps its speed bonus many times longer than the Adrenaline Converter. Some pairs also add a new effect. The Electromag Recycler restores Stamina as well as Health, and the Isometric Stabilizer cuts the cost of melee attacks too.
Unique effects belong to the rest. The Militech Apogee slows time by 85%, more than any other Sandevistan. The Militech Falcon heals on every kill while time is slowed. The Militech Berserk makes its user fully invulnerable. The Kiroshi Cockatrice Optics add up to 35% Crit Chance to every attack. Immovable Force switches on cover bonuses anywhere. The Quantum Tuner wipes most of another implant's cooldown once per fight. The Chrome Compressor gives up the operating system for up to 70 extra Cyberware Capacity. The NetWatch Netdriver and the Militech Canto are Iconic cyberdecks. The Canto is the only deck that carries Blackwall Gateway.
Pros
- The Iconic variants beat their common relatives by a wide margin.
- Most Iconic implants keep the same capacity cost at every tier, so an upgrade never needs more capacity.
- The Leeroy Ligament System is cheap at 8 capacity and appears early, from level 10.
- The Chrome Compressor costs nothing and makes room for the others.
Cons
- Capacity costs are heavy. The COX-2 and Chitin take about 50 each, and the Apogee takes 44.
- Most Iconic implants are found only in Dogtown, which needs Phantom Liberty.
- Several need a specific story path. The Quantum Tuner needs the King of Wands ending. The Canto needs Reed's side of the story, and it rules out the Erebus.

Character Builds
Capacity is the real limit, so an Iconic build starts there. The Edgerunner perk allows going 50 points over capacity, at a cost of 0.5% max Health per point. Cyberware Capacity Shards raise capacity for good. The Chrome Compressor adds up to 70 more, at the price of the operating system slot.
- Reflexes and slowed time. The Militech Apogee is the core. The Cockatrice adds Crit Chance, and Axolotl or the Quantum Tuner brings the Sandevistan back sooner. The Adreno-Trigger and the Isometric Stabilizer suit a Reflexes fighter who never stops moving.
- Netrunner. The COX-2 turns damaging quickhacks into crits. The RAM Reallocator refills RAM when it runs low. The Netdriver or the Canto fills the Operating System slot.
- Tank. Chitin adds a large block of Armor and faster Health Regen. The Rara Avis multiplies that Armor. The Peripheral Inverse and the Militech Berserk suit a tank who fights in melee.
- Sniper. The Deep-Field Visual Interface raises Crit Chance out to 100 meters. The Cockatrice adds more Crit Chance on top. The Revulsor slows time on its own when Health falls low.
- Tech weapons. The Electromag Recycler restores Health and Stamina on every fully charged hit.
Perks raise the value of the whole set. Cyborg cuts every cooldown by 15% when all slots are filled. All Things Cyber lowers the cost of Skeleton and Integumentary System implants by 20%, which helps Chitin and the Rara Avis. Renaissance Punk adds 4 capacity for each attribute at 9 or higher.
Notes
- Most Iconic implants are sold by the Dogtown ripperdocs once the level allows. They also drop from Dogtown airdrops, which are marked by red smoke.
- A few are sold by every ripperdoc in the city. The Militech Falcon and the Militech Berserk appear from level 30, and the Apogee and the Netdriver from level 40.
- Carol Emeka gives a Militech Falcon during Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos, if she is the netrunner V calls.
- Axolotl is also the reward of Last Call, the job Regina Jones offers once all her Watson gigs are done.
- A ripperdoc upgrade with item components is the only way to reach Tier 5++.
- The Iconic Items page lists every Iconic weapon, implant, supplement and piece of clothing together.
