Optical Camo bends light around V's body and makes V hard to see for a few seconds. Outside of combat, it helps V slip past guards without being spotted. Inside a fight, enemies have a harder time landing their shots while the camo is on. It is the classic tool of a stealth build that wants to cross open ground or break away from a bad fight. Cool characters get the most from it, because each point of Cool makes the camo last longer. Optical Camo is an early game implant that every ripperdoc in Night City and Dogtown sells from level 10.
Effect
Optical Camo is an active implant. It goes into the Combat Gadget quickslot and is switched on with the Combat Gadget button. The camo then cuts V's visibility to enemies for a few seconds. A cooldown starts once the effect ends.
At Tier 2, the camo cuts visibility by 30% for 4 seconds, with a 70 second cooldown. At Tier 5, it cuts visibility by 90% for 7 seconds, and the cooldown drops to 50 seconds. A low tier camo only makes V harder to notice. A high tier camo makes V close to invisible for the whole effect.
Optical Camo is attuned to Cool. Each point of Cool adds a tenth of a second to the effect. At 20 Cool, the camo lasts two seconds longer.
The camo also adds a block of armor. Its stat bonuses lower enemy vision and add Bonus Stealth Damage from Tier 2.
How to Get Optical Camo Guide
- Reach level 10.
- Visit any ripperdoc clinic in Night City or Dogtown and open the Integumentary System slots.

Upgrades
Ripperdocs sell Optical Camo from Tier 2 at level 10, Tier 3 at level 20, Tier 4 at level 30 and Tier 5 at level 40. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier makes the camo stronger and longer and shortens the cooldown. The armor also rises with each tier. The Driver Update perk adds one more stat bonus. The Chipware Connoisseur perk offers a choice of bonuses when V upgrades the implant. V gains Cyberware Capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Optical Camo costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
Optical Camo belongs in a Cool build that relies on stealth. Creeping Death rewards a kill made while the camo is on. Each such kill restores Health and Stamina and adds movement speed for a short time. Ninjutsu unlocks crouch-sprinting. Vanishing Act then turns the camo on by itself during a crouch-sprint or a slide. The camo drains its charge slowly while V keeps moving that way. Killer Instinct adds damage with knives, axes and silenced guns outside of combat, which suits a hidden attack.
The Emergency Cloaking Relic perk changes the camo in combat. Turning it on in a fight makes enemies lose track of V, which gives V a chance to leave combat. This perk needs the camo on the Combat Gadget quickslot. The Extended Warranty perk in Technical Ability adds duration to all cyberware effects, the camo included.
Select a Build
Ping reveals enemies behind walls, and Tech weapon shots pierce the cover between them. A charged shot released at the click of Bolt deals the most damage. With a Militech Sandevistan, the charge starts first and time slows at half charge so the Bolt shot lands as a headshot.
