The Scimitar is a rare weapon that cannot be crafted in The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. The blade is curved and it does the same damage as an Elven Sword, but is even lighter. Considering it can be found at level 1, early on in the your Skyrim playthrough, it can be worth prioritising getting the Scimitar quickly.

How to Get the Scimitar Guide
Where to find the Scimitar Location?
The Scimitar is a very rare weapon in Skyrim because it cannot be crafted and only a few specific characters carry the weapon it.
- An unmarked location west along the coastline from Dawnstar you will find an upturned boat with a Scimitar.
- When the player becomes the Thane of Falkreath they will unlock the Housecarl Rayya who carries two Scimitars. She was orignally added in the Hearthfire DLC.
- Velehk Sain can be defeated for his two Scimitars that he duel wields. He can be found after interacting with the Daedric Gauntlet in The Midden under the College of Winterhold. But this is quite a slow method for obtaining two scimitars.
- Used by the Corsairs on the Dainty Sload, East from Solitude, near the lighthouse.
- Inside the partly flooded hull of the Wreck of the Strident Squall south east from Raven Rock.
- Carried by the Alik'r warriors.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The Scimitar is not a leveled weapon.
