Catahoula is a BARGHEST Tech pistol that grows deadlier the faster V moves. Each kill or dismemberment adds movement speed, and higher movement speed raises the pistol's damage. It rewards an aggressive style where V dashes from one target to the next. As a BARGHEST weapon, it also gains extra armor penetration. Catahoula is a Phantom Liberty pistol tied to Kurt Hansen's BARGHEST militia in Dogtown.
Combat
Catahoula fires like the Grit it is built on. A tap fires a quick shot. Holding the trigger charges a stronger Tech round that can go through cover. The Iconic effect builds during a fight. Each kill adds a stack of movement speed for a few seconds, and the stacks add up. More speed means more damage per shot. Several fast kills in a row make each next shot hit harder.
The effect fades if V stops killing for a moment. Catahoula therefore works best in a busy fight, where a new target is always within reach.

Character Builds
Catahoula works best in a Technical Ability build. Some movement perks from Reflexes help too. Bolt makes a shot count as fully charged if the trigger is released just before full charge. Shock Value makes those Bolts ignore armor. From the Reflexes tree, Dash and Air Dash keep V moving fast between targets. Steady Grip allows shooting while Dashing.
Cyberware that raises movement speed makes the damage bonus stronger. The Leeroy Ligament System adds movement speed at all times. The Adrenaline Converter adds a burst of speed when combat starts. Kiroshi Stalker Optics show enemies behind cover, so a charged shot can hit them through the wall.
Lore
Catahoula is the Iconic variant of the HA-4 Grit, a Tech pistol from Hansen Armory. It is one of the BARGHEST Iconics that come out of Dogtown airdrops. Pit Bull, Amstaff and Chinook have the same bonus. Kills and dismemberments make V faster, and the extra speed adds damage.
