The HA-4 Grit is a Tech pistol from Hansen Armory, the gunsmiths of Kurt Hansen's BARGHEST militia in Dogtown. It works as two guns in one. A tap fires single charged shots like any Tech pistol. Held at full charge, it switches to full auto and empties its long magazine like a small machine pistol. It is a handy Phantom Liberty sidearm for a Technical Ability build. The BARGHEST Iconic Catahoula is built on it. The HA-4 Grit is a Phantom Liberty pistol from Dogtown's own gunsmiths. Weapon vendors sell it once the expansion is installed.
Combat
The Grit is a Tech weapon. Its rounds are fired by an electromagnetic charge, and a charged shot can pass through cover and thin walls. An uncharged shot behaves like a normal pistol round.
The pistol's trait is what makes it special. Once the charge is full, the Grit fires in full auto for as long as the trigger stays down. Its magazine is large for a pistol, so the burst lasts a while. The same gun can hit a guard behind a crate with a charged shot. It can then spray bullets at the guard's friends who come running.
Pistols are dependable sidearms that give up raw firepower for handling. The Grit does that job well. Its full-auto mode gives it enough damage to stop a rush at close range. At long range, a scoped revolver or rifle does the job better.

Upgrades
A stronger Grit comes from buying one at a higher tier, because weapon quality follows V's level.
Character Builds
The Grit uses perks from two attribute trees, Cool and Technical Ability. In Cool, Focus adds headshot and weakspot damage and unlocks Focus mode at full Stamina. Head To Head resets Focus with each ranged kill. Run 'N' Gun removes the Stamina cost of hip-fire and adds movement speed during Focus. It helps a pistol that sprays from the hip.
In Technical Ability, Bolt speeds up the charge. It also makes a shot count as fully charged if the trigger is released just before full charge. In Charge stops a Tech weapon from firing on its own at full charge, so V can keep the full-auto mode ready. Internal Clock widens the timing window for a Bolt. Chain Lightning makes Bolts deal Electrical damage that spreads to nearby enemies.
For cyberware, Feedback Circuit and Electromag Recycler restore Health when a fully charged Tech shot lands. Kiroshi Stalker Optics reveal enemies behind cover, so V can shoot them through the wall. Its mod slots take Tech and handgun mods. C-Thru makes it easier to shoot through cover. Supercharger speeds up the charge but lowers armor penetration a little. Spinetickler adds an EMP chance on fully charged hits. Zenith adds crit chance for a few seconds after drawing, and Parallax cuts sway while aiming.
Select a Build
Ping reveals enemies behind walls, and Tech weapon shots pierce the cover between them. A charged shot released at the click of Bolt deals the most damage. With a Militech Sandevistan, the charge starts first and time slows at half charge so the Bolt shot lands as a headshot.

Lore
The in-game line is blunt about the gun's ambitions: made by Dogtown's own Hansen Armory, dependable, but that's all it is. Hansen Armory equips BARGHEST, the militia that holds Dogtown under Kurt Hansen. The caption presents the Grit as a working gun rather than a showpiece.
Its Iconic variant, Catahoula, is one of the BARGHEST Iconics that fall from the Dogtown airdrops. Each kill or dismemberment makes V faster, and the extra speed adds damage.
Notes
- Catahoula is the Iconic variant of the HA-4 Grit.
