Cheetah is a pistol for fighting up close. The nearer V stands to a target, the higher its crit chance and Bleeding chance climb. Shots to the torso also hit much harder. The pistol also has a flat crit damage bonus. Its description puts it plainly: come closer, don't be shy. Cheetah works best in a Cool build that likes to get close to enemies. Cheetah is a Phantom Liberty reward from the side job No Easy Way Out, given by Coach Fred. It drops from Angie of the Animals.

Combat

Cheetah works the opposite way to most pistols. Its bonus to crit and Bleeding chance only builds at close range. It grows as the distance shrinks. The torso damage bonus lets V aim at the centre of the body. A burst to the chest at arm's length is the pistol's best shot.

Movement is therefore the main skill with Cheetah. V should slide or dash right up to an enemy, fire a few rounds into the body, then move to the next target. The large headshot bonus still rewards a head hit when one is available.

Character Builds

Cheetah works best in a Cool build that fights up close. Run 'N' Gun removes the Stamina cost of hip-firing with pistols. It also adds movement speed while Focus is active. Focus also adds headshot and weak spot damage. Quick Draw speeds up the swap to the pistol and restores Stamina on a swap during combat. From the Reflexes tree, Dash and Steady Grip let V get close quickly and shoot during the Dash.

For cyberware, the Kerenzikov slows time when V aims during a slide, dodge or Dash. It works well with a pistol made for close range. Kiroshi Cockatrice Optics add flat crit chance. The Dynalar Sandevistan adds crit chance and crit damage while time slows.

Select a Build

The build deals huge damage at close range with shotguns and obliterates enemies outright. Health regen and Adrenaline Rush keep the character alive, and stacked cyberware regularly triggers Fury from Edgerunner. A Tech pistol and a heavy sniper cover anything further away.

Attributes: Body 20, Reflexes 18, Technical Ability 20, Intelligence 3, Cool 20.

Lore

Cheetah is the Iconic variant of the Constitutional Arms Unity, and it belongs to Angelica Whelan, known as Angie. She is a pack-leader of the Animals in Dogtown. In No Easy Way Out, Coach Fred asks V to help a boxer named Aaron. The Animals backed Aaron's career. They also fitted him with a chip that can knock him out and make him lose his fights. Aaron wants it gone, and V takes him to the ripperdoc Damir to have it shut off.

Angie arrives at the clinic while Aaron is still under sedation. She offers V a cut of the winnings to walk away and let Aaron take the fall. Turning her down starts a fight with Angie and her Animals, and the pistol drops from her body. The job's journal entry warns that V is walking into the lion's den.

Notes

  • Accepting Angie's deal pays V a share of the winnings, but Cheetah is lost.
