The Osprey, also called the NDI Osprey, is an Iconic Nokota sniper rifle from Phantom Liberty. It is found in Alex's safehouse while the team plans its move on the Cassel twins. It is an unusual sniper rifle, because it rewards firing from the hip. Headshots raise the damage of hip-fire for a short time. A headshot through the scope can therefore set up several strong shots from the hip. Taking down several enemies in a row also speeds up its reload and raises the chance to set targets on fire. It is a sniper rifle for players who like to keep moving. It mixes long-range first shots with close-range follow-up shots. The Osprey is a Phantom Liberty find from the main job Birds with Broken Wings. It sits in a weapon case in the armoury of Alex's safehouse in Dogtown.
Combat
The Osprey works in two steps. First, V lands a headshot, which raises the damage of hip-fire for a short time. V then keeps shooting from the hip while the bonus lasts. The rifle becomes a strong close and mid-range weapon. A V who can land a quick headshot when a fight starts gets the most out of the rifle.
The second effect rewards several kills in a row. Neutralising several enemies boosts the chance to apply Burn and speeds up reloads. Burn deals high Thermal damage over a short time, so a group that catches fire keeps losing Health. Together, the two effects make the Osprey stronger the longer a fight lasts, as long as the kills keep coming.

Character Builds
Sniper rifles use the Cool tree. Focus makes the first headshot hit harder and triggers Focus mode when V aims at full Stamina. Deadeye adds more headshot damage. Nerves Of Tungsten-Steel guarantees crits on headshots with sniper rifles while Deadeye is active. Those perks make the first headshot more reliable. Quick Draw shortens the swap to the Osprey and returns Stamina on every combat swap. Head To Head resets Focus after an aimed kill.
For cyberware, Kerenzikov lets V aim and shoot while sliding or dodging, with time slowed for a moment. It helps with a rifle used on the move. The Militech Apogee Sandevistan adds headshot damage while time slows. The Osprey is a Power weapon, so the Ballistic Coprocessor improves its ricochets.
Select a Build
The build snipes while soaking up a steady stream of enemy fire. When the pressure gets too high, Optical Camo lets the character slip back into the shadows.

Lore
Birds with Broken Wings follows the gala at the Black Sapphire. Alex and Reed now know who the two netrunners are. They are the Cassel twins, who are due to meet Kurt Hansen and Songbird. The plan is to intercept the twins, take on their identities and walk into Hansen's meeting in their place. V wakes up a day later to Reed's call. V then heads to Alex's safehouse to talk the plan through with the two agents.
The safehouse holds an armoury, and the Osprey waits there in a weapon case. It is part of the gear the FIA agents keep for jobs like this one.
Notes
- If the rifle is missed, Herold Lowe sells it at the black market in the EBM Petrochem Stadium.
