Request Backup fakes a call for help from one enemy to another. A second guard walks over to the target's position to give support. It lets V move guards around without being seen, either to clear a path or to gather them in one spot. At higher tiers it also pulls enemies out of cover in a fight. It suits a stealth build that likes to control where every guard stands. Request Backup is an early to mid game quickhack that netrunner vendors sell from Tier 2 onward.
Effect
Request Backup is a covert quickhack. V uploads it to one enemy. One other enemy within range then walks to that enemy's location. The range grows with each tier, from a short distance at Tier 2 to a wide area at Tier 5. The upload takes a couple of seconds, and the RAM cost is low.
Tier 3 changes the effect when Sonic Shock is present. If the target is already affected by Sonic Shock, the target leaves instead. They walk off to give backup at an ally's location. V can then empty a spot without a fight.
Tier 4 lets V use Request Backup during combat. In a fight it forces the target out of cover.
Tier 5 works with Bait. If V uploads Request Backup to an enemy affected by Bait, up to four enemies are called over. Bait brings the first enemy toward V or a camera, and Request Backup then gathers more around them. The Iconic variant calls one more enemy with this combo and costs less RAM.
How to Get Request Backup Guide
- Buy Request Backup or its crafting spec from a netrunner vendor once Tier 2 stock appears.
- Breach Access Points with Breach Protocol for a chance at quickhacks.
- With Phantom Liberty, watch netrunner stock for the Iconic variant from around level 51.

Crafting Spec
Netrunner vendors sell the Request Backup spec. The spec lets V craft Request Backup in the crafting menu. Every spec in the game is listed on the Crafting Specs page.
Upgrades
Request Backup comes in Tiers 2 to 5, plus an Iconic variant. Each tier widens the range. Tier 3 adds the Sonic Shock effect. Tier 4 allows use in combat. Tier 5 adds the Bait combo. The Iconic variant calls one more enemy with Bait and costs less RAM.
Netrunner vendors sell Request Backup and its crafting specs. Higher tiers need quickhack components of the matching tier to craft. Breach Protocol on an Access Point can also reward quickhacks. Enemy netrunners can drop quickhacks and specs as well. The Iconic variant needs Phantom Liberty. Netrunners begin to offer Iconic quickhacks at around level 51, and their stock rotates. Crafting the Iconic variant takes Tier 5 quickhack components.
Character Builds
Request Backup belongs in a stealth build with points in Intelligence. It works best together with the other Covert quickhacks. Bait and Sonic Shock both unlock its tier bonuses. Eye In The Sky makes Covert quickhacks cheaper and longer lasting when V uploads them through a camera.
Hack Queue lets V queue a second quickhack on the same enemy. Embedded Exploit adds quickhack damage against enemies affected by Covert quickhacks. A group gathered by Request Backup is a good target for Contagion, which spreads between enemies standing close together. Detonate Grenade also catches more enemies in a tight cluster, since its blast hits everyone nearby.
Select a Build
Quickhacks such as Synapse Burnout and Cyberware Malfunction do the main damage. Two pistols held at once cover the gaps while RAM recovers. Overclock spends Health in place of RAM when a fight drags on.

Lore
The in-game description explains how it works. The program simulates an aid request inside the network's comms system. The nearest ally of the target answers the call and comes to their position.
Notes
- With Sonic Shock on the target, Request Backup sends the target away instead of calling another enemy over.
