Errata is a katana found inside a furnace during the main story. It lets V leap straight at an enemy. Every strike against a burning target is a guaranteed critical hit. Its own hits can set enemies on fire, so the katana can turn on its own bonus. It is a fierce blade for a Reflexes build that likes to get close fast and keep enemies burning. Errata is an early main-story find from Disasterpiece, inside the old power plant where V and Judy search for Evelyn.
Combat
Errata works like a katana with two extra abilities. The first is a leap. V can jump at an enemy from a distance and start the fight at close range. The second is its crit bonus against Burning enemies. Every hit on a burning target deals crit damage.
Errata's own hits have a chance to inflict a Burn. A short combo often sets the target on fire and turns on the crit bonus. Any other source of fire works too. A thrown incendiary grenade sets a whole group on fire, and then every swing against those enemies crits. Its armor penetration helps it cut through armoured targets.

Character Builds
Errata works best in a Reflexes build with blade perks. Finisher: Bladerunner adds attack speed with blades and a finisher that heals V. Flash Of Steel adds movement speed and attack speed after each finisher. Opportunist makes enemies with status effects, such as Bleeding, easier to finish. Lead And Steel lets the blade block bullets, and Bullet Deflect sends them back where V aims.
For fire, the CHAR Incendiary Grenade applies Burn to every enemy in its blast. Thermal Mantis Blades also deal Thermal damage with a Burn chance. They give V a second burning weapon to switch to. The Stabber adds crit chance with blades, and Microrotors raise melee attack speed.

Lore
Errata is the Iconic variant of the katana. It turns up in Disasterpiece, the job in which V and Judy track Evelyn Parker to an old Electric Corporation power plant held by Scavengers. Two levels down, inside a forge, the katana waits for anyone who looks closely. A furnace is a fitting place for a blade built around fire.
Notes
- Errata has its own spot on the weapon wall in V's apartment.
- With Phantom Liberty, a missed Errata can be bought from Herold Lowe at the EBM Petrochem Stadium.
