Memory Wipe makes an enemy forget that they have seen V. For a short time the target simply does not notice V at all. It also pushes back an enemy netrunner's trace. At the highest tier it can even force every enemy out of combat. It suits a stealth build that wants a way out when a sneak attempt goes wrong. Memory Wipe is a mid game quickhack that netrunner vendors sell from Tier 3 onward.
Effect
Memory Wipe is a covert quickhack. V uploads it to one enemy, and that enemy stops noticing V for a short time. It is untraceable, so the upload itself does not start a trace. When V uses it outside combat, it also cuts the current trace progress by 25%. An enemy netrunner who has started to track V then loses part of that progress.
Tier 4 protects the rest of a queue. Every quickhack queued after Memory Wipe becomes untraceable. Tier 4 also cuts trace progress a little more.
Tier 5 reaches far beyond one target. It forces every enemy to leave the combat state. A fight that has gone loud can then return to stealth. This power comes at a steep price. The Tier 5 RAM cost is more than three times the Tier 4 cost, and the upload is very slow. The Iconic variant cuts that upload time by seven seconds.
How to Get Memory Wipe Guide
- Buy Memory Wipe or its crafting spec from a netrunner vendor once Tier 3 stock appears.
- Breach Access Points with Breach Protocol for a chance at quickhacks.
- With Phantom Liberty, watch netrunner stock for the Iconic variant from around level 51.

Crafting Spec
Netrunner vendors sell the Memory Wipe spec. The spec lets V craft Memory Wipe in the crafting menu. Every spec in the game is listed on the Crafting Specs page.
Upgrades
Memory Wipe comes in Tiers 3 to 5, plus an Iconic variant. Tier 4 makes queued quickhacks untraceable and cuts more trace. Tier 5 forces all enemies out of combat, but costs much more RAM and uploads slowly. The Iconic variant keeps every effect and uploads much faster.
Netrunner vendors sell Memory Wipe and its crafting specs. Higher tiers need quickhack components of the matching tier to craft. Breach Protocol on an Access Point can also reward quickhacks. Enemy netrunners can drop quickhacks and specs as well. The Iconic variant needs Phantom Liberty. Netrunners begin to offer Iconic quickhacks at around level 51, and their stock rotates. Crafting the Iconic variant takes Tier 5 quickhack components.
Character Builds
Memory Wipe belongs in a stealth build with points in Intelligence. Sonic Shock at Tier 5 knocks an enemy unconscious when it lands on a target already affected by Memory Wipe and Reboot Optics. The three quickhacks together take a guard out without a fight. System Collapse becomes cheaper for a short time after V reduces trace progress. Memory Wipe reduces trace progress, so it sets up the discount.
Hack Queue lets V queue several quickhacks on one enemy. With Tier 4, Memory Wipe at the front of the queue keeps the rest of the queue untraceable. Encryption lowers the traceability of every quickhack. Eye In The Sky makes Covert quickhacks cheaper and longer lasting when V uploads them through a camera. Shadowrunner removes all trace progress after a Takedown. Embedded Exploit adds quickhack damage against enemies affected by Covert quickhacks.
Select a Build
Quickhacks do most of the damage, chained from cover before enemies find the character. Contagion goes on first and Overheat sets it off, and Cyberware Malfunction stacks make Short Circuit hit harder. Overclock spends Health in place of RAM, and a smart weapon finishes anyone left standing.

Lore
The in-game description quotes Bam Bam Pam, who calls it white-glove hacking. First the hacker reaches into the short-term memory, then wipes the sensory data to zero. In that quote, it is simple and elegant and leaves no trace.
Notes
- The Tier 5 variant trades a high RAM cost and a long upload for the power to end combat for every enemy at once.
