Ex-Disk

The Ex-Disk gives a netrunner a bigger pool of RAM and faster quickhacks. More RAM means more quickhacks before the pool runs dry. Faster uploads mean enemies have less time to react or find V. It suits any Intelligence build that fights mainly with a cyberdeck. It is one of the plainest ways to make every quickhack in the deck stronger. The Ex-Disk is a mid game implant that every ripperdoc sells from level 20.
Effect
The Ex-Disk does two things at once. It raises V's max RAM, the resource every quickhack spends. It also raises the upload speed of quickhacks. Both effects are always on and need no trigger.
Extra max RAM helps in two ways. V can open a fight with more quickhacks in a row. A bigger pool also takes longer to empty when RAM recovers slowly. Upload speed matters because enemies can notice the upload and start a trace. A faster upload lands the quickhack before an enemy can respond.
The Ex-Disk is attuned to Intelligence. Each point of Intelligence adds a small bonus to all damage V deals.
How to Get Ex-Disk Guide
- Reach level 20.
- Visit any ripperdoc clinic and open a Frontal Cortex slot.
- Buy and install the Ex-Disk.

Upgrades
Ripperdocs sell the Ex-Disk at Tier 3 from level 20, Tier 4 from level 30 and Tier 5 from level 40. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier adds more max RAM and a faster upload. Each copy also carries small stat bonuses. The Driver Update perk adds one more. The Chipware Connoisseur perk offers a choice of bonuses when V upgrades the implant. V gains Cyberware Capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Ex-Disk costs at a ripperdoc.
| Upgrade | Components | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 3 to Tier 3+ | 20 Tier 3 components | - |
| Tier 3+ to Tier 4 | 15 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4 to Tier 4+ | 20 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4+ to Tier 5 | 15 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5 to Tier 5+ | 20 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5+ to Tier 5++ | 50 Tier 5 components | Phantom Liberty |
Character Builds
The Ex-Disk belongs in an Intelligence build. Hack Queue adds one point of max RAM and unlocks quickhack queues. It also speeds up the upload of the second quickhack in a queue. Queue Acceleration adds another point of max RAM and lets a queue hold one more quickhack. Queue Prioritization speeds up the first quickhack when two or more are queued. Optimization raises the rate at which RAM recovers.
Max RAM matters for some perks directly. Overclock lets V keep hacking after RAM runs out, paying with Health instead. Power Surge restores Health when Overclock starts, and the amount grows with max RAM. Precision Subroutines raises accuracy with Smart weapons for each unit of max RAM.
The Ex-Disk works with other Frontal Cortex implants that add RAM. Memory Boost restores RAM when V neutralizes an enemy. Mechatronic Core adds max RAM and extra damage against drones, robots, mechs and turrets.
Select a Build
Quickhacks do most of the damage, chained from cover before enemies find the character. The Tetratronic Rippler cyberdeck adds quickhack damage, and Overclock spends Health in place of RAM. A smart weapon or the Monowire finishes anyone left standing.
