Mox is Judy Álvarez's shotgun, an Iconic Budget Arms Carnage named after the Mox, the gang Judy belongs to. Judy leaves it for V after the side job Pyramid Song. Her mods make the heavy Carnage lighter and more precise. They also change its pellet spread from a random scatter into an even, predictable pattern. When enemies get close, the shotgun's chance to Shock and knock them down goes up. Mox is steadier and easier to control than most shotguns. It is a strong choice for a Body build that likes to fight up close. Mox is a mid-game gift found in Judy's apartment in Kabuki, Watson, some time after the side job Pyramid Song.
Combat
Mox is a pump shotgun with Judy's improvements. Its pellets fly in an even pattern, so the damage lands where V aims instead of scattering at random. It is easier to land the whole blast on the head. The lighter build helps it handle better and reload a little faster.
The close-range bonus is what makes it special. When an enemy is right next to V, Mox gains a much higher chance to Shock and to cause Knockdown. A knocked-down enemy is out of the fight for a moment, and Shock adds Electrical damage. In a crowded room, a few point-blank blasts can knock enemies to the floor while V moves on to the next. The shotgun works best within a few metres, so V needs to get close.
How to Get Mox Guide
- Finish the side job Pisces without siding with Maiko, so that Pyramid Song unlocks.
- Complete Pyramid Song with Judy at Laguna Bend.
- If Judy is romanced, wait for her text about a gift. Otherwise, the shotgun appears some time after the job.
- Go to Judy's apartment in Kabuki, Watson.
- Take Mox from the kitchen.
Mox Map Location and Quest Guide
- Wait for Judy's message after Pisces to start the side job Pyramid Song.
- Meet Judy at Laguna Bend Lake and put on the diving suit.
- Follow Judy down to her flooded hometown and scan the clues by the diner and her old house.
- Find a way into the church.
- After V wakes on the dock, stay the night at the house with Judy. Leaving Judy on bad terms loses the gift.
- Wait for Judy to give V access to her apartment, and for her message about a gift if the two are a couple.
- Go to Judy's apartment in Kabuki and take Mox from the kitchen table.

Upgrades
Mox only stays strong if it is upgraded as V levels up. The crafting menu's Upgrades tab raises it a tier at a time, for crafting components. Components come from looting, crafting and taking apart spare gear. The shotgun has to be carried in V's inventory to appear there.

Character Builds
Shotguns use the Body tree. Like A Feather removes the movement penalty that shotguns carry. Bullet Ballet reduces spread while moving, which makes Mox's even pattern even tighter. Close-Quarters Carnage raises the chance to Obliterate enemies at close range. Spontaneous Obliteration adds damage against nearby enemies. With Rip And Tear, shotgun blasts and quick melee attacks each boost the damage of the other. Rush Of Blood speeds up reloads after a dismemberment.
For cyberware, Clutch Padding lowers the Stamina cost of shooting. The Ballistic Coprocessor raises ricochet chance and damage with Power weapons. Kerenzikov lets V aim and shoot while sliding or dodging, which helps V get close to the next target.
Select a Build
The build deals huge damage at close range with shotguns and obliterates enemies outright. Health regen and Adrenaline Rush keep the character alive, and stacked cyberware regularly triggers Fury from Edgerunner. A Tech pistol and a heavy sniper cover anything further away.

Lore
Judy Álvarez is a braindance editor and a member of the Mox, the gang that protects the sex workers of Lizzie's Bar. Mox is her own shotgun, tuned by her own hands. The item text says Judy's mods give the weapon extra lightness and precision.
The shotgun arrives after Pyramid Song, one of the most personal jobs in the game. Judy invites V to a shack by the Laguna Bend reservoir. The two dive into the lake to record a braindance of her flooded hometown, Laguna Bend. They swim past her old diner, her family home, a gas station and a sunken church. The dive brings back Judy's childhood memories, and the night that follows can turn into a romance. Some time later, Judy leaves her shotgun in her apartment for V.
