Clutch Padding lets V shoot longer before Stamina runs low. Every shot from a ranged weapon drains a little Stamina, and low Stamina makes guns harder to handle. Clutch Padding cuts that drain, so long bursts stay steady. It suits any gun build, and it is cheap and available from the very start. A Body character also gets a little extra Health from it. Clutch Padding is an early game implant that ripperdocs sell as soon as V can visit a clinic.
Effect
Clutch Padding lowers the Stamina cost of shooting. Each shot from a ranged weapon uses Stamina, and the cost adds up during long bursts. Weapon handling gets worse as Stamina drops. With the implant, V can fire more rounds before that happens. The effect is always on and needs no trigger.
Clutch Padding is attuned to Body. Each point of Body adds half a point of max Health through the implant.
How to Get Clutch Padding Guide
- Visit any ripperdoc clinic and open the Circulatory System slot.
- Buy and install Clutch Padding.

Upgrades
Ripperdocs sell Clutch Padding at Tier 1 at the start, then at Tier 2 from level 10, Tier 3 from level 20, Tier 4 from level 30 and Tier 5 from level 40. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier lowers the Stamina cost of shooting a little more. Each implant costs Cyberware Capacity. V gains capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit by up to 50 points, at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Clutch Padding costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
Several perks cut the Stamina cost of shooting in other ways. Ready, Rested, Reloaded lowers the Stamina cost of assault rifles and submachine guns. Spray And Pray lowers the cost of hip-firing. Run 'N' Gun in the Cool tree removes the Stamina cost of hip-firing pistols. Focus, also in Cool, removes the Stamina cost of shooting while it is active. Sharpshooter in Reflexes grants stacks that improve Stamina regen and lower Stamina cost.
Kinetic Frame raises Mitigation Chance while Stamina stays above 85%. Clutch Padding keeps Stamina high for longer, so the two implants work together. Kerenzikov Boost System removes the Stamina cost of shooting completely while Kerenzikov is active.
Some perks reward low Stamina instead. Die! Die! Die! raises Crit Chance at low Stamina. Don't Stop Me Now adds Mitigation when Stamina is below 33%.
Select a Build
Headshots deal most of the damage, and Focus and Deadeye only work at full Stamina, so each fight starts with a full Stamina bar. The Sandevistan slows time so a whole group can drop one headshot at a time. A silenced pistol handles quiet kills before a fight, and a shotgun deals with enemies that get close.
Attributes: Body 20, Reflexes 18, Technical Ability 20, Intelligence 3, Cool 20.
