Basic Kiroshi Optics are the first optics V gets in Night City. They slow down how fast security cameras notice V. They also give a strong zoom while scanning, which helps when reading a room before a fight. A stealth build that sneaks past camera networks gets the most out of them. Their capacity cost is tiny, so almost any character can keep them installed as cheap filler for the face slot. Basic Kiroshi Optics arrive at the very start of the game, when Viktor Vektor installs them during the main job The Ripperdoc, and every ripperdoc sells them afterwards.
Effect
Basic Kiroshi Optics work in the background. Cameras take longer to detect V while the optics are installed. A camera that would spot V in a moment needs noticeably more time. That extra time lets V slip out of the camera's view before the alarm goes off. The higher tiers slow camera detection even more.
The optics also add an optical zoom when V scans. The zoom grows at the higher tiers. At the higher tiers it also works while aiming. A strong zoom helps V scan distant guards and plan a route before anyone notices.
The optics are attuned to Cool. Each Cool point adds a small bonus to headshot and weakspot damage. A character with full Cool gains a few percent of extra damage on every headshot.
How to Get Basic Kiroshi Optics Guide

- Buy them from any ripperdoc in Night City or Dogtown at any level.
- Return to a ripperdoc every ten levels for a higher tier.
- Upgrade them at a ripperdoc with crafting components.

Upgrades
Basic Kiroshi Optics come in every tier from Tier 1 to Tier 5++. Each step lowers camera detection speed further, and the zoom grows at the second, fourth and fifth tiers. The capacity cost stays at the bare minimum at every tier. Ripperdocs stock a higher tier every ten levels, starting at level 10. A ripperdoc can also upgrade the optics with crafting components. Kiroshi "Cockatrice" Optics are the Iconic variant of the same optics, sold in Dogtown.
The table shows what each tier step of Basic Kiroshi Optics costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
Basic Kiroshi Optics belong in a Cool build that likes stealth and precise shots. Feline Footwork and Ninjutsu help V move quietly while crouched. Blind Spot makes enemies take longer to detect a crouched V, and the delay grows with Mitigation Chance. Focus and Deadeye also raise headshot and weakspot damage. Killer Instinct adds damage with knives, axes and silenced guns outside of combat.
Other cyberware helps the same quiet style. The Atomic Sensors raise movement speed while enemies are starting to detect V.

Lore
Kiroshi is a maker of optical cyberware. The database entry for its optics describes them as a widely popular suite of electro-neural enhancements. The same entry says they are built for scanning the environment. Basic Kiroshi Optics are the plain model of that line.
The scan feature comes with the optics. During The Ripperdoc, V first tries it out by scanning Viktor himself. The scan pulls up his name, his affiliation and a short background from the police database.
Notes
- The face slot can also hold the Behavioral Imprint-Synced Faceplate from Phantom Liberty next to the optics.
