Weapon Glitch breaks an enemy's gun from a distance. The weapon malfunctions, their aim gets worse and their smart targeting shuts off. At higher tiers the gun explodes in their hands. It is a cheap way to stop an enemy who is pinning V down with steady fire. It suits an Intelligence build that fights with Smart weapons. Weapon Glitch is an early to mid game quickhack that netrunner vendors sell from Tier 2 onward.
Effect
Weapon Glitch is a control quickhack. V uploads it to one enemy, and their weapon malfunctions for the duration. The malfunction lowers their accuracy. It also turns off Smart targeting and the ability to shoot through cover. Enemies with Smart guns or Tech weapons lose those features. The upload is nearly instant and the RAM cost is low.
Tier 3 links it to V's own Smart weapons. While V keeps a Smart weapon locked on to the affected enemy, Weapon Glitch lasts until the lock ends.
Tier 4 goes further. It makes the enemy's main weapon explode. The enemy then has to switch to a backup weapon. That second weapon suffers the same malfunction.
Tier 5 rewards V for each upload. Every time V uploads Weapon Glitch, V gains 6% Crit Chance with Smart weapons for ten seconds. The bonus stacks five times. The Iconic variant doubles each stack to 12%.
How to Get Weapon Glitch Guide
- Buy Weapon Glitch or its crafting spec from a netrunner vendor once Tier 2 stock appears.
- Breach Access Points with Breach Protocol for a chance at quickhacks.
- With Phantom Liberty, watch netrunner stock for the Iconic variant from around level 51.

Crafting Spec
Netrunner vendors sell the Weapon Glitch spec. The spec lets V craft Weapon Glitch in the crafting menu. Every spec in the game is listed on the Crafting Specs page.
Upgrades
Weapon Glitch comes in Tiers 2 to 5, plus an Iconic variant. Tier 3 extends it while a Smart weapon holds a lock. Tier 4 blows up the main weapon. Tier 5 adds stacking Crit Chance for Smart weapons. The Iconic variant keeps every effect and doubles the Crit Chance per stack.
Netrunner vendors sell Weapon Glitch and its crafting specs. Higher tiers need quickhack components of the matching tier to craft. Breach Protocol on an Access Point can also reward quickhacks. Enemy netrunners can drop quickhacks and specs as well. The Iconic variant needs Phantom Liberty. Netrunners begin to offer Iconic quickhacks at around level 51, and their stock rotates. Crafting the Iconic variant takes Tier 5 quickhack components.
Character Builds
Weapon Glitch belongs in an Intelligence build that uses Smart weapons. Acquisition Specialist widens the Smart weapon reticle and speeds up lock-on. Target Lock Transfer keeps target locks when V switches between aiming and hip fire. Targeting Prism allows more than one lock at once. No Escape resets a target lock that is about to end when V shoots the target. A longer lock keeps the Tier 3 effect running. Smart Synergy gives Smart weapons instant locks and more damage against hacked enemies while Overclock is active.
Recirculation returns RAM after a Smart weapon kill, and more RAM if the enemy carries quickhacks. A kill on an enemy carrying Weapon Glitch therefore returns extra RAM.
Subordination doubles the duration of Control quickhacks on enemies at full Health. Embedded Exploit adds quickhack damage against enemies affected by Control quickhacks. Icepick lowers the RAM cost of Combat quickhacks against the same enemies. Short Circuit at Tier 2 adds three seconds to every Control quickhack on its target.

Lore
The in-game description goes back to the Unification War. Militech soldiers in that war feared few things more than a weapon jamming in the heat of battle. Weapon Glitch brings that fear to any enemy with a gun.
Notes
- The Tier 4 explosion hits the main weapon only, and the backup weapon still suffers the malfunction.
