Cripple Movement roots an enemy in place. The target cannot walk, run or dodge for a short time. It also shuts down the cyberware they use to move and evade. It is the answer to fast enemies who dash around and dodge every shot. At higher tiers it turns the frozen enemy into an easy target for melee attacks and Finishers. Cripple Movement is an early to mid game quickhack that every netrunner vendor sells from Tier 2 onward.
Effect
Cripple Movement is a control quickhack. V uploads it to one enemy, and that enemy can no longer move. Any cyberware that helps them move or dodge is disabled for the duration as well. The upload is almost instant, so it works in the middle of a fight. The RAM cost is low at every tier.
The higher tiers build a melee combo around the frozen target. Tier 3 adds 15% melee damage against affected enemies. Tier 4 makes affected enemies more open to melee Finishers. Tier 5 rewards V for each Finisher on an affected enemy. V then restores 5% Health and 2 RAM. The Iconic variant doubles that reward to 10% Health and 4 RAM.
How to Get Cripple Movement Guide
- Buy Cripple Movement or its crafting spec from any netrunner vendor.
- Breach Access Points with Breach Protocol for a chance at quickhacks.
- With Phantom Liberty, watch netrunner stock for the Iconic variant from around level 51.

Crafting Spec
Netrunner vendors sell the Cripple Movement spec. The spec lets V craft Cripple Movement in the crafting menu. Every spec in the game is listed on the Crafting Specs page.
Upgrades
Cripple Movement comes in Tiers 2 to 5, plus an Iconic variant. Tier 3 adds the melee damage bonus. Tier 4 makes Finishers easier. Tier 5 restores Health and RAM after each Finisher. The Iconic variant keeps every effect and doubles the Tier 5 reward.
Netrunner vendors sell Cripple Movement and its crafting specs. Higher tiers need quickhack components of the matching tier to craft. Breach Protocol on an Access Point can also reward quickhacks. Enemy netrunners can drop quickhacks and specs as well. The Iconic variant needs Phantom Liberty. Netrunners begin to offer Iconic quickhacks at around level 51, and their stock rotates. Crafting the Iconic variant takes Tier 5 quickhack components.
Character Builds
Cripple Movement fits a hybrid build that hacks and then closes in with a blade or fists. Subordination doubles the duration of Control quickhacks on enemies at full Health. Opening a fight with Cripple Movement on an untouched enemy therefore keeps them rooted much longer. Embedded Exploit adds quickhack damage against enemies affected by Control quickhacks. Icepick lowers the RAM cost of Combat quickhacks on those same enemies.
Short Circuit at Tier 2 adds three seconds to every Control quickhack on its target. A Short Circuit after Cripple Movement keeps the enemy rooted for longer.
Finisher: Live Wire unlocks a Monowire Finisher on low Health enemies. It restores Health and RAM, and more queued quickhacks make the enemy more open to it. Siphon recovers RAM with each Monowire attack. Suicide becomes cheaper for a short time after a melee Finisher.

Reboot Optics and Sonic Shock keep enemies from seeing the character, and Cripple Movement holds them in place. Blade perks from Reflexes and the Blue Fang knife finish them up close. Ping shows where the next targets stand.

Lore
The in-game description says that few people think to protect the cyberware in their inner ear. They learn the lesson fast when they lose the ability to move and shoot in the middle of a firefight.
Notes
- Cripple Movement also shuts down cyberware that helps an enemy dodge, which makes it strong against agile targets.
