Reboot Optics scrambles an enemy's cybernetic eyes. Outside combat it wipes their progress toward spotting V. In a fight it ruins their aim, and at higher tiers it blinds them outright. It is cheap and almost instant, so it works as an emergency tool and as a setup for headshots. It suits a stealth or precision build that wants enemies unable to see clearly. Reboot Optics is an early game quickhack that every netrunner vendor sells from Tier 1 onward.
Effect
Reboot Optics is a control quickhack. Its effect depends on whether the enemy is in combat. Outside combat, it resets the target's detection progress. An enemy who is about to spot V loses track and has to start over. In combat, it lowers the enemy's accuracy for the duration. The upload is nearly instant, so it works in an emergency.
Each tier adds a new effect. Tier 2 makes the base effect last much longer. Tier 3 adds 15% headshot and weakspot damage against the affected enemy. Tier 4 blinds the enemy for the whole duration. In combat it greatly reduces their accuracy instead of only lowering it. Enemies who lose sight of V give V a chance to escape or move to a new position.
Tier 5 makes the quickhack jump between targets. If V kills the affected enemy with a headshot or a weakspot hit, V recovers 3 RAM. The quickhack then spreads to the nearest enemy. A careful shooter can therefore chain it through a group. The Iconic variant doubles the headshot and weakspot bonus to 30%.

Crafting Spec
Netrunner vendors sell the Reboot Optics spec. The spec lets V craft Reboot Optics in the crafting menu. Every spec in the game is listed on the Crafting Specs page.
Upgrades
Reboot Optics comes in Tiers 1 to 5, plus an Iconic variant. Tier 2 extends the duration. Tier 3 adds headshot and weakspot damage. Tier 4 blinds the enemy. Tier 5 returns RAM and spreads the effect after a headshot kill. The Iconic variant keeps every effect and doubles the headshot bonus.
Netrunner vendors sell Reboot Optics and its crafting specs. Higher tiers need quickhack components of the matching tier to craft. Breach Protocol on an Access Point can also reward quickhacks. Enemy netrunners can drop quickhacks and specs as well. The Iconic variant needs Phantom Liberty. Netrunners begin to offer Iconic quickhacks at around level 51, and their stock rotates. Enemy netrunners can drop the Iconic crafting spec too. Crafting the Iconic variant takes Tier 5 quickhack components.
Character Builds
Reboot Optics fits any build that lands headshots. The Tier 3 damage bonus helps every weapon. The Tier 5 chain rewards a build that kills with precise shots.
Subordination doubles the duration of Control quickhacks on enemies at full Health. Embedded Exploit adds quickhack damage against enemies affected by Control quickhacks. Icepick lowers the RAM cost of Combat quickhacks against the same enemies. Hack Queue lets V queue a second quickhack behind Reboot Optics on the same enemy.
Sonic Shock at Tier 5 knocks an enemy out when V uploads it to a target already affected by Memory Wipe and Reboot Optics. These three quickhacks together form a quiet way to remove a guard. Short Circuit at Tier 2 adds three seconds to every Control quickhack on its target, including Reboot Optics.
Select a Build
Reboot Optics and Sonic Shock keep enemies from seeing the character, and Cripple Movement holds them in place. Blade perks from Reflexes and the Blue Fang knife finish them up close. Ping shows where the next targets stand.

Lore
The in-game description makes a dry joke about expensive optical implants. They free their owner from dry eyes, allergy irritation and pink eye. They do not free anyone from blindness, and Reboot Optics takes advantage of that.
Notes
- Outside combat Reboot Optics resets detection, while in combat it attacks accuracy, so the same quickhack serves stealth and fighting.
