Spring Joints make Mitigation stronger. Mitigation is the chance to shrug off part of an incoming hit, and Spring Joints raise how much of the hit gets shrugged off. Its value depends on Mitigation Chance, so it raises the worth of every perk and implant that grants it. It suits an agile build that dodges, dashes and crouches through fights. A Body character also gains extra Health from it for each point of Body. Spring Joints are an early game implant that every ripperdoc in Night City and Dogtown sells from level 10.
Effect
Mitigation has two parts. Mitigation Chance is the chance that a hit gets mitigated. Mitigation Strength is how much damage a mitigated hit loses. By default, a mitigated hit loses 50% of its damage.
Spring Joints raise Mitigation Strength. At Tier 2 the bonus is 10%, and it grows with each tier. With Spring Joints installed, each mitigated hit loses more damage than the default half. Total Mitigation Strength can never go above 90%.
The bonus only matters when a hit is mitigated. A build with high Mitigation Chance gets the most from Spring Joints.
Spring Joints are attuned to Body. Each point of Body adds half a point of Health. The implant also adds a block of armor that rises with each tier.
Its stat bonuses add Carrying Capacity and, from Tier 2, Weapon Handling.
How to Get Spring Joints Guide
- Reach level 10.
- Visit any ripperdoc clinic in Night City or Dogtown and open the Skeleton slots.
- Buy and install Spring Joints.

Upgrades
Ripperdocs sell Spring Joints at Tier 2 from level 10, Tier 3 from level 20, Tier 4 from level 30 and Tier 5 from level 40. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier raises the Mitigation Strength bonus and the armor. The Driver Update perk adds one more stat bonus. The Chipware Connoisseur perk offers a choice of bonuses when V upgrades the implant. V gains Cyberware Capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Spring Joints costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
Spring Joints need a source of Mitigation Chance. Can't Touch This in Reflexes gives a full Mitigation Chance while Dashing. Feline Footwork and Ninjutsu in Cool add Mitigation Chance while crouched. Serpentine adds more while crouch-sprinting. Small Target and Unexposed add Mitigation Chance while crouched and still or while aiming from cover. Dorph-Head in Body grants full Mitigation Chance for a moment after V uses a Health Item.
Some perks raise Mitigation Strength further. Aerodynamic adds 30% Mitigation Strength while V is in midair. Don't Stop Me Now adds Mitigation Chance and Mitigation Strength when Stamina is low.
Several implants add Mitigation Chance too. Kinetic Frame and NeoFiber raise it directly. Countershell grants it after V loses a large share of Health in a short time. In Technical Ability, License To Chrome adds a second Skeleton slot, and All Things Cyber lowers the capacity cost of Skeleton implants.
Select a Build
Dashes close the gap so the shotgun can blast enemies at point-blank range. A quick melee hit after a shot boosts the next one through Rip and Tear. The shotgun and LMG perks grow stronger at low Stamina, so the build keeps shooting and dashing without a pause.
Attributes: Body 20, Reflexes 20, Technical Ability 20, Intelligence 3, Cool 18.
