The MaxTac Mantis Blades are a Phantom Liberty variant of the Mantis Blades, taken from the NCPD unit that hunts cyberpsychos. They slash and leap like the standard blades, and they deal Physical damage with a strong chance to cause Bleeding. Their special edge is healing. Killing an enemy who is bleeding restores a share of V's Health. That makes them a natural fit for a Reflexes blade build that wants to stay in the fight longer. The MaxTac Mantis Blades are a late game reward that Mr. Hands leaves in V's apartment at the end of Reed's route in Phantom Liberty, and Melissa Rory can also drop a pair after the side job Bullets.
Effect
The MaxTac Mantis Blades work like other Mantis Blades. Normal attacks are fast slashes. Holding and then releasing the Melee Attack button performs a Leap Attack at a target within range.
Every hit deals Physical damage and has a chance to cause Bleeding. The blades start at Tier 4. When V kills an enemy who is affected by Bleeding, the blades restore a portion of V's Health.
The MaxTac Mantis Blades are attuned to Reflexes. Each point of Reflexes adds 0.5% damage with the blades.

Upgrades
The MaxTac Mantis Blades start at Tier 4 and can be raised through Tier 5 at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier raises the damage and the Bleeding chance. Each implant costs Cyberware Capacity. V gains capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit by up to 50 points, at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of MaxTac Mantis Blades costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
The MaxTac Mantis Blades belong in a Reflexes build with the blade perks, since Mantis Blades count as Blades. Slaughterhouse makes every attack apply Bleeding, which sets up the healing effect. Opportunist makes bleeding enemies easier to finish. Finisher: Bladerunner lowers the Stamina cost of Blade attacks, raises attack speed and unlocks a Blade Finisher that restores Health. Lead And Steel lowers the cost again and lets V block incoming projectiles. Flash And Thunderclap makes every Strong Attack leap to enemies in range.
The Relic perk Jailbreak lets the blades charge their next Leap Attack by dismembering an enemy or performing a Finisher. A charged leap reaches 30 meters further and hits nearby enemies with a wide slash. Spatial Mapping makes every Leap Attack cripple enemies and raise dismemberment chance for ten seconds.
Microrotors raises melee attack speed, and Dense Marrow raises melee damage at a higher Stamina cost.
Select a Build
Mantis Blades are the main weapon, so both weapon slots stay free for guns. Dashes and the Mantis Blades leap reach enemies fast, and Finishers restore Health. A Sandevistan slows time when a fight gets crowded.

Lore
MaxTac is the NCPD division that deals with cyberpsychos. Lieutenant Melissa Rory, the MaxTac officer V meets in the side job Bullets, fights with Mantis Blades herself. In Phantom Liberty, MaxTac captures Songbird and moves her in an armored convoy. Mr. Hands wants the location of the ambush on that convoy. The blades are his gift once V passes it on.
Notes
- Siding with Songbird during Firestarter closes the Mr. Hands route to the blades.
