Shock-N-Awe gives every hit V takes a chance to fire back. When it triggers, it releases a large electroshock that damages all enemies close to V. At high tiers the shock deals a large burst of damage. It suits a close-range fighter who takes a lot of hits and wants enemies punished for each one. Technical Ability characters get the most out of it. Shock-N-Awe is an early game implant that every ripperdoc in Night City and Dogtown sells from the start.
Effect
Shock-N-Awe triggers when V takes damage. Each time, there is a 10% chance that it fires. The shock then deals a burst of damage to every enemy nearby. At Tier 1 the shock deals 135 damage. At Tier 5 it deals 500 damage.
The chance is rolled on every hit, not every fight. A V under heavy fire takes many hits, so the shock fires often. Enemy shotgun blasts and submachine gun bursts give it many chances in a short time.
The shock only reaches enemies near V. It works best for builds that already fight up close, such as melee and shotgun builds.
Shock-N-Awe is attuned to Technical Ability. The implant also adds a block of armor that rises with each tier. Its stat bonuses add Explosion Damage and, from Tier 2, Explosion Damage Resistance.

Upgrades
Ripperdocs stock Shock-N-Awe at Tier 1 below level 10, then Tier 2 from level 10, Tier 3 from 20, Tier 4 from 30 and Tier 5 from 40. An installed copy can be raised a tier at a ripperdoc with the matching item components. Each tier raises the shock damage and the armor. The trigger chance stays the same. The Driver Update perk adds one more stat bonus. The Chipware Connoisseur perk offers a choice of bonuses when V upgrades the implant. V gains Cyberware Capacity with each level and from Cyberware Capacity Shards. The Edgerunner perk lets V go over the limit at the cost of some max Health.
The table shows what each tier step of Shock-N-Awe costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds
Shock-N-Awe suits a Body or Technical Ability character who fights at close range. Rip And Tear links shotgun hits and quick melee attacks for extra damage. Like A Feather removes the movement penalty for shotguns. Juggernaut adds movement speed and damage while Adrenaline Rush is active.
Defensive implants help V survive the hits that trigger the shock. ProxiShield cuts damage from close enemies, the same enemies the shock hits. The Pain Editor reduces all incoming damage. Painducer spreads part of each hit over time. In Technical Ability, All Things Cyber lowers the capacity cost of Integumentary System implants. Chrome Constitution cuts incoming damage by 5% when every Integumentary System and Skeleton slot is filled.
