BioDyne Berserk

BioDyne Berserk
BioDyne Berserk
Class Operating System
Type Berserk
Attribute Reflexes
Capacity 20

The BioDyne Berserk turns V into a melee fighter who is very hard to kill for a few seconds. While it runs, V shrugs off a large share of incoming damage, attacks faster and lands far harder critical hits. It is the Berserk for fast blades and arm cyberware. Its bonuses grow with Reflexes, so it suits an agile melee character rather than a heavy brawler. It is on sale from the early game. The BioDyne Berserk is an early to late game operating system, sold by every ripperdoc in Night City from level 10.

Effect

A Berserk is an operating system that V switches on once it is charged. While the BioDyne Berserk is active, V takes much less damage and Health stays above a quarter. In exchange, V is limited to melee weapons, and items such as Health items are locked. Melee attacks cost no Stamina during the effect. Attack speed and Crit Chance rise, and Crit Damage doubles. When the effect ends, V regains a quarter of max Health for each enemy neutralized while it ran.

The healing at the end is the key to using it well. A Berserk started in a crowd can refill V completely if enough enemies fall before it runs out. Starting it near a single enemy gives far less back.

The implant is attuned to Reflexes from Tier 3 onward. Each Reflexes point adds Crit Chance while the Berserk is active. This bonus adds to the Crit Chance the implant already grants.

How to Get BioDyne Berserk Guide

  • Visit any ripperdoc from level 10 to buy it at Tier 2.

Upgrades

The BioDyne Berserk comes in Tiers 2 to 5, with plus steps in between. Each step raises its damage reduction, attack speed or Crit Chance. The higher tiers also lengthen the effect and shorten the cooldown. The capacity cost stays the same at every tier. A ripperdoc can upgrade it with crafting components, which is the only way to reach Tier 5++. Ripperdoc stock moves up a tier at levels 20, 30 and 40.

The table shows what each tier step of BioDyne Berserk costs at a ripperdoc.

Character Builds

The BioDyne Berserk works best in a Reflexes build with blades. Finisher: Bladerunner cuts the Stamina cost of blade attacks, raises their attack speed and unlocks a Blade Finisher that restores Health. Flash And Thunderclap makes Strong Attacks leap to nearby enemies. Slaughterhouse makes every attack apply Bleeding. Dash helps V close the gap before the effect starts. Katanas and machetes swing fast enough to turn the extra attack speed into many critical hits.

The Technical Ability perk Ticking Time Bomb sets off a charged EMP each time an operating system is activated, including this Berserk. Cyberware that shortens cooldowns, such as the Newton Module or Axolotl, brings the Berserk back sooner. Integumentary implants and automatic healing cover the gap between uses.

Select a Build

The build fights up close with blades and Gorilla Arms. Berserk stays off until the character has taken damage and used a few Health items, then it makes the character invulnerable with no Stamina limit. A sprint into a group followed by a jump and Quake blasts every enemy nearby.

Lore

BioDyne sells this Berserk as an affordable, all-round model. Its in-game description promises quick and easy results and warns buyers not to expect miracles. It says the implant does what it says on the box. The joke undersells it a little. The BioDyne model is the only Berserk that boosts critical hits.

Notes

  • The BioDyne Berserk fills the operating system slot, so it replaces a Sandevistan or a cyberdeck.
