The Biotech Σ is a cyberdeck built around quickhacks that hurt enemies over time. It makes Combat quickhacks last longer and makes their lingering damage hit harder. Its Monowire bonus rewards a netrunner who hacks first and then closes in with the wire. It is at its best against tough single targets such as bosses and heavy enemies. It is weaker against large groups and against quick burst hacks. The Biotech Σ is an early to late game cyberdeck, sold by every ripperdoc from level 10 and improved at each later tier.
Effect
Like every cyberdeck, the Biotech Σ lets V upload quickhacks to enemies and devices while scanning. Each tier adds RAM, quickhack slots and buffer size. Higher tiers also unlock more device quickhacks.
Its special effects arrive one tier at a time. The first tier makes Combat quickhacks last longer. The next raises the damage over time that quickhacks deal. The tier after that gives the Monowire extra damage against enemies who are suffering damage over time. Tier 5 ties the deck to Overclock. Turning Overclock on resets the timer of every quickhack damage over time effect still running. The burn or poison then starts again at full length. The plus steps of Tier 5 make Combat quickhacks last much longer still.
The deck shines on enemies who take a long time to kill. Overheat sets a target on fire and Contagion poisons it. The Biotech Σ keeps both running longer and makes them deal more damage. A boss under several lingering hacks keeps losing Health while V moves or fights. Against large groups, a deck that spreads quickhacks, such as the Raven Microcyber, does the job better.
How to Get Biotech Σ Guide
- Visit any ripperdoc from level 10 to buy the first mark at Tier 2.
- Return at levels 20, 30 and 40 for the higher marks.
- Upgrade the installed deck at a ripperdoc with crafting components.

Upgrades
The Biotech Σ starts at Tier 2 and climbs to Tier 5++. Each mark brings more RAM, more quickhack slots, a larger buffer and a new effect. The capacity cost stays the same at every tier. Ripperdoc stock moves up a tier at levels 20, 30 and 40. A ripperdoc can also upgrade the installed deck with crafting components, which is the only way to reach Tier 5++.
The table shows what each tier step of Biotech Σ costs at a ripperdoc.
| Upgrade | Components | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 2 to Tier 2+ | 75 Tier 2 components | - |
| Tier 2+ to Tier 3 | 37 Tier 3 components | - |
| Tier 3 to Tier 3+ | 75 Tier 3 components | - |
| Tier 3+ to Tier 4 | 37 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4 to Tier 4+ | 75 Tier 4 components | - |
| Tier 4+ to Tier 5 | 37 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5 to Tier 5+ | 75 Tier 5 components | - |
| Tier 5+ to Tier 5++ | 200 Tier 5 components | Phantom Liberty |
Character Builds
The Biotech Σ belongs in an Intelligence build. Overclock lets V cast quickhacks with too little RAM by paying with Health instead, and it also triggers the deck's Tier 5 reset. Hack Queue lets V stack more than one quickhack on the same enemy. System Overwhelm adds quickhack damage for each different quickhack and damage over time effect on the target. Embedded Exploit raises RAM recovery and boosts quickhack damage against enemies hit by Control or Covert quickhacks.
The Monowire is the natural weapon for this deck, because the deck boosts it against enemies already burning or poisoned. Siphon makes Monowire hits recover RAM. Finisher: Live Wire adds a Monowire finisher that restores Health and RAM. Frontal Cortex cyberware that adds RAM or quickhack damage supports the whole setup.
Select a Build
The Monowire whips several enemies at once from a short distance, and quickhacks are uploaded between attacks. Intelligence perks give the Monowire more damage and return RAM on hits. Overclock spends Health in place of RAM when a fight drags on.
Attributes: Body 15, Reflexes 20, Technical Ability 11, Intelligence 20, Cool 15.

Lore
Biotech Σ is the company behind this cyberdeck line. The decks are sold by mark number, and a higher mark is a higher tier of the same deck. The in-game description says the deck is popular among netrunners whose gear depends on fast RAM recovery. It credits overclocked Biotech coprocessors for that reputation.
Notes
- The Biotech Σ fills the operating system slot, so it replaces a Sandevistan or a Berserk.
