The DR-12 Quasar is Darra Polytechnic's Tech revolver, a strange-looking gun with a special feature. Fired normally, it is a revolver. Held at full charge, it switches to full auto and empties its drum like a machine pistol. One sidearm can therefore fire careful aimed shots and also spray bullets at close range. It works best in a build that mixes the handgun perks from Cool with the charge perks from Technical Ability. Slider's Iconic Gris-Gris is built on it. The DR-12 Quasar is sold in shops from the early game onward. Shops from Little China and Northside to the Badlands stock it, and so does Sophia Dupont in Dogtown.
Combat
The Quasar is a Tech weapon, so its rounds are fired by an electromagnetic charge. Tapping the trigger fires a normal shot. Holding it builds a charge, and a charged Tech shot can pass through cover and walls.
Its special trait starts at full charge. Instead of one heavy shot, the revolver fires in full auto for as long as the trigger stays down. It can then spray bullets at an enemy who rushes V. The large drum keeps the spray going longer than a normal revolver could.
Revolvers give up fire rate and reload speed for hard-hitting shots and strong headshots. The Quasar keeps that strength in single-shot mode. A careful player can aim for heads at mid range and switch to the charged spray when enemies get close. A scope slot helps with the aimed shots.

Character Builds
Handguns use the Cool tree. Focus adds headshot and weakspot damage. Its second level unlocks Focus mode while aiming at full Stamina. Deep Breath slows time while Focus is active. Head To Head resets Focus each time an enemy goes down to a ranged attack. Deadeye unlocks more perks. Long Shot keeps full damage at any distance, and Quick Draw speeds up the swap to a handgun.
Technical Ability adds the charge perks. Bolt raises charge speed and charged-shot damage. It also makes a shot count as fully charged if the trigger is released just before full charge. In Charge stops Tech weapons from firing on their own at full charge. V can then choose when to start the full-auto spray. Lightning Storm speeds up each charge after a Bolt, and Shock Value lets Bolts ignore armor. Kiroshi Stalker Optics highlight enemies behind cover, which helps aim shots through a wall.
Its mod slots take Tech and handgun mods. C-Thru makes it easier to shoot through cover. Supercharger speeds up the charge. Spinetickler adds an EMP chance on fully charged hits. Pinpoint reduces spread after each headshot. Zenith adds crit chance for a few seconds after drawing the gun. Wallpuncher, an Iconic mod, lets the charge reach double capacity.
Select a Build
Ping reveals enemies behind walls, and Tech weapon shots pierce the cover between them. A charged shot released at the click of Bolt deals the most damage. With a Militech Sandevistan, the charge starts first and time slows at half charge so the Bolt shot lands as a headshot.

Lore
The in-game line aims it at a certain kind of shooter: the gunslinger who is not afraid of change. Darra Polytechnic, the maker behind the Nova and the Pulsar, builds it as the electric sibling of its plain revolver.
Its Iconic variant, Gris-Gris, belongs to Slider. V finds it in Slider's hideout during the Phantom Liberty main job The Damned. That revolver is fused with Slider's cyberdeck. Its bullets can upload quickhacks into the target.
Notes
- Gris-Gris is the Iconic variant of the DR-12 Quasar.
