Black Unicorn is a katana that keeps its speed until the end of a fight. Its attack speed stays the same however low V's Stamina falls, so a long fight does not slow it down. Most blades lose speed as Stamina drains. Black Unicorn is a steady choice for a blade build that blocks, deflects and slashes all at once. It is a free reward tied to a GOG account. Black Unicorn appears in V's stash once the game is owned on GOG or linked to a GOG account.
Combat
Black Unicorn swings like any katana: fast light attacks, a heavier strong attack and a block. Its unique effect matters when Stamina runs low. Attacks, blocks and deflections all drain Stamina, and most blades get slower as it empties. Black Unicorn keeps its full speed, so a tired V can still finish a combo at full speed.
The katana is therefore easy to use in long melee fights and against groups. It also has solid armor penetration, which helps it cut through armoured enemies.

Character Builds
Black Unicorn works best in a Reflexes build with the blade perks. Lead And Steel lets blades block bullets, and Bullet Deflect sends those bullets wherever V aims. Both cost Stamina. Black Unicorn keeps its attack speed even when that Stamina runs out. Flash And Thunderclap turns strong attacks into leaps at nearby enemies. Finisher: Bladerunner adds blade attack speed and unlocks a finisher that heals V. Slaughterhouse makes every attack apply Bleeding and restores Stamina on dismemberment.
For cyberware, the Stabber adds crit chance with blades. Microrotors raise melee attack speed further. A Sandevistan such as the Militech Apogee slows time and adds crit chance and crit damage, which works well with a fast katana.
Select a Build
The Sandevistan lets a pistol pick off whole crowds before they detect anything. Outside of stealth, blades take over. A sniper rifle handles ranged enemies, and Blood Pump adds extra toughness.
