The Steel Pipe is exactly what it sounds like: a length of steel piping used as a one-handed club. Its in-game line explains why anyone carries one: in desperate times, anything can be used as a weapon. It is a basic blunt weapon for a Body build. It can stun enemies and knock them out without killing them. The pipe is a loot drop, carried by street gangers such as members of Maelstrom. Enemies drop the Steel Pipe across Night City, so it can turn up at any point in the story.
Combat
The Steel Pipe is a blunt weapon. Its hits leave enemies unconscious rather than dead, so it is useful for a non-lethal approach. Each blow has a chance to stun. A stunned enemy is open to follow-up hits, a knockdown from the right mod or a blunt finisher.
Blunt weapons get much stronger with the Body perks. With Wrecking Ball, sprinting while blocking becomes a charge that can knock an enemy down. Quake adds a ground slam that damages and staggers everyone nearby. A slam from midair becomes a Superhero Landing, which hits harder the farther V falls. Kinetic Absorption turns blocked attacks into Stamina and extra damage for a few seconds.
How to Get Steel Pipe Guide
- Loot the Steel Pipe from enemies who carry one, such as members of Maelstrom.

| K.O. | More damage and knockdowns on stunned enemies, slower attacks | |
| Pax | Makes the weapon non-lethal, more damage outside combat | |
| Severance | Hits to the head or limbs of a weakened enemy can dismember and kill | |
| Silencio | More crit chance and crit damage when crouched and undetected |
Upgrades
Only Iconic weapons can be upgraded, so a stronger Steel Pipe is simply a higher-tier one. Loot scales with V's level, so later drops hit harder than early ones.
Character Builds
The blunt perks are in the Body tree. Wrecking Ball lowers the Stamina cost of blunt attacks. Quake raises blunt attack speed and adds the ground slam. Aftershock restores Stamina for each enemy hit by Quake, and Ripple Effect heals V for each one. Clapback raises the knockdown chance on defensive attacks and adds stuns to counterattacks. Finisher: Savage Sling adds a blunt finisher that restores Health. Holding the button throws the victim instead.
For cyberware, Microrotors speed up melee attacks, and the Adrenaline Booster restores Stamina after each melee kill. Dense Marrow adds melee damage, but each swing costs more Stamina. A Berserk operating system adds damage reduction while it is active. It also removes the Stamina cost of melee attacks. Its mod slots take blunt and melee mods. Barbarian raises damage against stunned, staggered and knocked-down enemies. K.O. adds damage and a knockdown chance on stunned targets, but it lowers attack speed. Bloodbruiser makes the pipe lethal. It also gives the pipe a chance to cause Bleeding based on its stun chance.
Select a Build
A one-handed club and Dashes pick off enemies one by one while Berserk is on cooldown. Once Health drops, Berserk makes the character invulnerable and melee attacks cost no Stamina. Quake slams the ground whenever it is ready and staggers every enemy nearby.
