The Hammer is a sledgehammer used as a weapon, a heavy two-handed blunt weapon that gives up speed for raw impact. Each swing is slow and costs a lot of Stamina, but it lands hard. Carrying it slows V down and shortens every jump. It rewards a patient Body build that chooses its moment. As a blunt weapon, it knocks enemies out instead of killing them. Its Iconic variant is Sasquatch's Hammer, the giant weapon of the Animals boss in Pacifica. The Hammer can be bought or looted from the early game onward. Melee vendors such as the Animals vendor in Rancho Coronado sell it, and enemies who fight with one drop it.
Combat
The Hammer is a heavy weapon. While it is equipped, V moves more slowly and jumps lower. Swings are slow, and each one drains far more Stamina than a light club. Blunt weapons in general hit harder than blades but attack less often. The Hammer is the heaviest and slowest of them.
The reward is impact. Each swing deals far more damage than a club hit. Blunt hits also have a chance to stun, and a stunned enemy is open to a finisher.
The Hammer struggles against gunmen at range and against fast enemies who dodge the slow swings. Blocking absorbs attacks while V gets close. It works best in fights in tight rooms, where enemies have to come to V. It is non-lethal by default, so it also works on jobs where the target must stay alive.

Character Builds
The Hammer is a Body weapon, and the blunt perks fix its biggest problem. Wrecking Ball cuts the Stamina cost of blunt attacks. Its second level lets V charge into enemies while sprinting and blocking. Quake cuts the cost again, adds attack speed and unlocks a ground slam that staggers everyone nearby. Epicenter makes a Quake from midair hit harder the further V falls. Fly Swatter cuts ranged damage while blocking, which helps on the slow walk toward a gunman. Finisher: Savage Sling adds a blunt finisher that restores Health.
For cyberware, Microrotors raise attack speed with melee weapons, which matters a lot on a swing this slow. A Berserk operating system removes Stamina costs for melee while it is active. The Adrenaline Booster refills Stamina after melee takedowns.
Its mod slots take melee and blunt mods. Barbarian adds damage against stunned, staggered and knocked-down enemies. The Hammer puts enemies in exactly those states. Airstrike adds crit chance and crit damage to attacks from midair, such as a Quake landing. Bloodbruiser makes the Hammer lethal and adds a Bleeding chance. Severance, an Iconic mod, gives head and limb hits on a badly hurt enemy a chance to dismember and kill.
Select a Build
A one-handed club and Dashes pick off enemies one by one while Berserk is on cooldown. Once Health drops, Berserk makes the character invulnerable and melee attacks cost no Stamina. Quake slams the ground whenever it is ready and staggers every enemy nearby.

Lore
The in-game line twists an old saying: with a hammer in hand, every problem looks like a nail. The weapon answers every problem with the same heavy swing.
Its Iconic variant, Sasquatch's Hammer, belongs to Sasquatch. Sasquatch is the towering Animals boss V faces at the Grand Imperial Mall during the main job I Walk the Line. That hammer is even heavier. While it is drawn, V cannot sprint, dodge or dash.
Notes
- Sasquatch's Hammer is the Iconic variant of the Hammer.
