Gwynbleidd is a rune-marked Iconic sword that comes to Night City from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is a reward for players who own both games, and it appears in V's stash for free. The sword is built around critical hits. After several quick kills, every attack becomes a guaranteed crit for a while. At critically low Health, every attack crits no matter what. It also deals extra damage to bosses, so a melee build has a reason to carry it into the biggest fights. Gwynbleidd is available as soon as V can reach the stash in the apartment, once the reward has been claimed.
Combat
Gwynbleidd swings like a long blade, with light attacks for pressure and strong attacks for big hits. Its special effect rewards fast kills. Once two or more enemies go down in quick succession, all of its attacks become guaranteed crits. Each further quick kill refreshes the effect. Against a pack of gang members, V can cut down the first two and then keep critting through the rest of the room.
The low-Health effect is a strong safety net. When V's Health is critically low, every swing crits even without kills. A desperate last stand therefore hits harder than a normal fight. The boss bonus also makes the sword a good boss killer. Against a single tough target, the kill bonus will not start. The boss bonus and a good crit build still provide the damage.

Upgrades
The reward arrives in the stash. The first step is to move Gwynbleidd into V's inventory, where the crafting menu can see it. From there, the Upgrades tab raises the sword one tier at a time. Each tier costs crafting components, gathered from loot, from crafting and from breaking down spare gear.
The table shows what each tier step of Gwynbleidd costs.
| Upgrade | Components | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 to Tier 1+ | 75 Tier 1 components | - |

Character Builds
Blades use the Reflexes tree. Lead And Steel lowers the Stamina cost of blade attacks and lets V block bullets with the sword. Bullet Deflect then sends blocked bullets back where the crosshair points. Bullet Time makes those deflections free and turns them into crits while time is slowed. Flash And Thunderclap makes strong attacks leap to nearby enemies, which keeps the kills coming. Finisher: Bladerunner unlocks a blade finisher that restores Health. Flash Of Steel adds movement and attack speed after each finisher. Slaughterhouse makes every attack apply Bleeding.
While every attack is a guaranteed crit, extra crit chance adds nothing. Crit damage is the stat to raise. A Sandevistan adds crit damage while it is active and slows time for the next kill. Microrotors raise melee attack speed. Adrenaline Booster returns Stamina whenever a melee weapon finishes an enemy. A Berserk operating system also works well. It limits V to melee weapons and removes the Stamina cost of attacks while active.
Select a Build
Dashes carry the character behind enemy lines to cut groups apart with blades. Killing a weak enemy first turns on the Gwynbleidd's guaranteed crits for a stronger target. Finishers restore Stamina, and Countershell, NeoFiber and Spring Joints cut most incoming damage.

Lore
Gwynbleidd means White Wolf in the Elder Speech of the Witcher world. It is the name the elves gave Geralt of Rivia, the hero of The Witcher 3. The sword is a nod to CD PROJEKT RED's other big series. Its rune-covered blade looks like a witcher's weapon rather than a Night City katana. It arrives as one of several Witcher-themed rewards, alongside clothing such as the Wild Hunt jacket.
Notes
- Gwynbleidd is part of a set of Witcher-themed Phantom Liberty rewards.
