Volkodav is an Iconic machete from Techtronika's banned weapon series, found in Dogtown during Phantom Liberty. Its hits can apply a unique burn. Every hit on a target suffering that burn is a guaranteed crit. The more enemies burn at the same time, the more crit damage V deals. Volkodav is a melee weapon that gets stronger as more of a crowd catches fire. V sets a few enemies on fire, then keeps swinging. It sits in a storage room during Mr. Hands' gig Waiting for Dodger, an easy pickup on the way through. Volkodav is a Phantom Liberty find in the old NCPD precinct in Dogtown, during the gig Waiting for Dodger for Mr. Hands.
Combat
Volkodav is a machete, one of the Blade weapons. Blades are fast and sharp, made for quick series of hits. Each hit has a chance to apply Volkodav's unique burn. Once a target is burning, every hit on them is a guaranteed crit. A burning enemy therefore dies quickly.
Volkodav is strongest against a group. The more enemies are burning at once, the more crit damage V deals to each of them. V should spread the burn across a crowd with quick strikes, then finish the enemies one by one. The Iconic text warns that the effect lowers accuracy. Accuracy matters less on a blade than on a gun.

Character Builds
Blades use the Reflexes tree. Lead And Steel lowers blade Stamina costs and lets V block bullets. Bullet Deflect sends blocked bullets back where V aims. Flash And Thunderclap turns strong attacks into leaps, which helps V reach burning enemies. Seeing Double adds damage and Stun chance to counterattacks. Finisher: Bladerunner raises blade attack speed and adds a finisher that heals V. Flash Of Steel boosts movement and attack speed after each finisher. Slaughterhouse makes every attack apply Bleeding as well as the burn.
For cyberware, the burn already guarantees crits, so crit damage is the stat to raise. The BioDyne Berserk adds a large crit damage bonus and removes Stamina costs while it is active. Sandevistan models add crit chance and crit damage while time is slowed. Microrotors raise melee attack speed, which spreads the burn faster.
Select a Build
Dashes carry the character behind enemy lines to cut groups apart with blades. Finishers restore Stamina, so the Sandevistan is turned off before each one. High Mitigation from Countershell, NeoFiber and Spring Joints cuts most incoming damage.

Lore
Volkodav belongs to a special Techtronika weapon series that was banned over humanitarian concerns. Its sister weapon from the same series is the Taigan revolver, and both have the same unique burn. The machete's own line is short and grim: it is not up to date on its rabies shots.
Waiting for Dodger is a rescue gig. Two NCPD officers, Bill and Charles, made a deal with Dodger, one of Kurt Hansen's men, and the deal went wrong. The two end up stuck in an abandoned precinct that Dodger uses as his base. Bill's fiancée, Stella, hires V to bring them out, and she would rather nobody gets killed. V slips into the station, finds the officers and has to get them out to their squad car. In a storage room on the way to the garage, Volkodav lies in a cargo container.
Notes
- Volkodav is the Iconic variant of the Razor.
- Rosco, another Iconic, drops from Dodger if V fights and kills him in the same gig.
