The Cut-O-Matic is Budget Arms' chainsword, a cheap motorised blade that sits somewhere between a machete and a chainsaw. Its motor is so loud that it alerts every enemy nearby and sends civilians running. It is useless for stealth. Instead, it is a hard-hitting blade for a Reflexes build that starts fights on purpose. Its strong attack charges up before release, so good timing matters more than fast button presses. Maelstrom gangers carry it, and its Iconic variant, the Cut-o-Matic x-MOD2, waits in Dogtown. The Cut-O-Matic is a mid-game melee weapon. Maelstrom's weapon vendor in Northside sells it, and Maelstrom gangers carry it.
Combat
The Cut-O-Matic is a chainsword, one of the Blade weapons. Its blade cuts hard, and its strong attack has a charge time before it lands. Holding the charge and releasing it at the right moment is the key to using it.
The noise is the big drawback. As soon as the motor runs, enemies nearby are alerted and civilians panic. A quiet takedown is impossible. The Cut-O-Matic works best in fights that are already loud. Examples are a raid on a gang hideout, a gig that has gone wrong, or a brawl where V wants everyone to come running.
Blades cut deep and often make enemies bleed. With the right perks, every swing can apply Bleeding. Bleeding keeps dealing damage to enemies who back away.
How to Get Cut-O-Matic Guide
- Buy the Cut-O-Matic from the Maelstrom weapon vendor in Northside.

Character Builds
Blades use the Reflexes tree. Lead And Steel lowers blade Stamina costs and lets V block incoming bullets with the blade. Bullet Deflect sends those bullets back where V aims. Flash And Thunderclap turns strong attacks into leaps toward nearby enemies. Finisher: Bladerunner raises blade attack speed and adds a finisher that heals V. Flash Of Steel boosts movement and attack speed after each finisher. Slaughterhouse makes every attack apply Bleeding.
For cyberware, Microrotors raise melee attack speed. Stabber adds crit chance with blades. A Berserk operating system removes Stamina costs for melee while it is active.
Its mod slots take blade and melee mods. Bleedout raises the crit chance of Bleeding damage, which works well with Slaughterhouse. Cyclone lets a sprint attack turn into an unlimited combo for a few seconds. Airstrike adds crit chance and crit damage to midair attacks, including Flash And Thunderclap leaps. Slice 'Em Up makes enemies easier to finish after each kill. Severance gives a chance to dismember and kill an enemy below half Health.
Select a Build
Dashes carry the character behind enemy lines to cut groups apart with blades. Finishers restore Stamina, so the Sandevistan is turned off before each one. High Mitigation from Countershell, NeoFiber and Spring Joints cuts most incoming damage.

Lore
The in-game line calls the Cut-O-Matic the missing link between machetes and chainsaws. It is as effective as it is noisy, and it tells its owner to forget about stealth. Maelstrom, the gang that rules Northside in Watson, stocks it in its own weapon shop. Its members carry it into fights.
Notes
- The Cut-o-Matic x-MOD2, an Iconic variant with extra mod slots, is found in Terra Cognita in Dogtown with Phantom Liberty.
