Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade) is a great boss in Elden Ring .
Godfrey, First Elden Lord appears in Leyndell, Royal Capital as a golden shade of the first Elden Lord . The shade blocks the way through the capital toward the Erdtree. He swings a giant axe in long combos that mix slow and fast blows. The fight is a short preview of the full battle that waits at the Elden Throne .
Lore The shade is a towering golden phantom of Godfrey. He wields a massive double-headed axe.
Godfrey was the first Elden Lord and the first consort of Queen Marika . He was once a ferocious warrior. When he vowed to become a lord, he took the Beast Regent Serosh upon his back to quell his endless lust for battle.
On Marika's orders, Godfrey led the war against the giants and confined their flame on the mountaintops. His offspring with Marika became the first demigods, the golden lineage.
Where to find Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade) Location? Leyndell, Royal Capital, beyond a fog gate reached by the tree branch south of the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace

Attacks Ground Stomp: he raises a foot and stamps, sending rocks forward in a cone. Blocking or rolling to the side avoids it.
Long axe combos: swings that mix slow and fast blows in one string. Attacking only after a slow swing and rolling through the fast ones works best.
Lunging opener: the shade can lunge at the player as the fight begins. Waiting a moment before summoning avoids being caught.
Extended axe swings: his reach is deceptively long. Healing only at a safe distance avoids getting caught. Tactics Wait a moment before summoning, because he may lunge in at the start.
Summon a durable spirit ash to draw his attention.
Keep a shield ready for his heavy blows.
Attack after slow swings and dodge through the fast ones.
Use lightning or pierce damage and avoid holy, which he resists. Best Builds Lightning skill or incantation Lightning Slash, Lightning Ram or Thunderbolt add damage he does not resist.
Charged Bolt of Gransax His slow pace leaves time for the charged Ancient Lightning Spear skill.
Heavy or fast weapon with patience Heavy weapons hit once after a slow swing, and fast weapons fit two or three hits.
